Exploring Kumamoto Castle | Japan’s Historic Landmark | Honest Review
I’m Angela. I’m Leah. And we out here. Hey y’all. So, we went to Kumamoto Castle. Uh, now this is this was kind of different than what we expected, right? Like we expected that we were going to be able to enter the castle and see the castle as a castle. Uh, but it wasn’t. It was It was interesting still. Uh, we entered and it’s set up like a museum. So, you’ll see different paintings uh and things like that, but it is not set up as the original castle was. But I think that would have been really cool to see We are in the basement or I don’t know what this is called. We’re at the bottom of the castle. Wow. This is the castle. So, we’re about to enter. Uh it looks like maybe the way that this is set up looks like maybe on some days it’s extremely busy. Uh the day that we went, I mean, it was fairly busy, but not like it didn’t feel overwhelming. Like there were a number of people. You do have to be prepared to walk up steps. Okay. There are steps on every single way to this experience. There’s step going steps going up to the castle. There’s steps inside of the castle. Uh step steps. And they do have an elevator. Um but it is reserved for people who physically can’t walk up steps. So if you’re able to walk up steps, they’re not going to allow you to use the elevator. Just as a heads up. Another thing that we necessarily didn’t love about the uh museum is that everything was like typically when you visit places sometimes they’ll have like an English interpretation somewhere but we kind of just had to look and assume. Most of the stuff did not have an English interpretation. Everything was in Japanese. that don’t have to be anymore. Now, the artifacts and exhibits were pretty interesting. Um, if you have the time, so we didn’t have a lot of time in this museum because we went with a group tour and our group tour was going to various places this day. But if you have unlimited time at this museum, my suggestion would be to use the app on your phone, uh, Google Translate. Google Translate will allow you to take a picture of like the words, and then it will automatically pop on the screen with what the words mean. So then you don’t have to guess what the what the artifacts mean or the history behind it. Google Translate will be able to tell you directly. But because we kind of had to rush through, we didn’t have time to take pictures of every single plaque um or description. Another thing, this this museum does not allow guided tours. So, nobody is allowed to kind of interpret the the uh exhibits for you. You kind of just have to read One thing that I think that the museum museum was missing was the story or stories of women. So all of the exhibits, all of the paintings, all of the images were of men. I don’t think we saw any women in the museum actually. So I’m wondering like what were the women’s roles? What were women doing? Like were women allowed in the castle? Uh that part isn’t as clear. Uh so that would that would have been interesting to see. Uh as you can see again, lots of men. Um, but yeah, so that was pretty cool. And I thought this vintage photo, this black and white photo of the castle was just beautiful. Amazing. The the photos were great throughout the museum. Everything was well done. But be sure y’all like this video. Comment down below. Let us know what you think. Have you been to this museum? Would you go to this museum?
