Nippon-Ham pitcher Hiromi Ito became a “disciple” of pitcher Koki Kitayama on the 9th.
The ace, who is expected to start in the first game of the first stage of the CS, pitched 32 balls from mound during starter practice at ESCON. However, he showed dissatisfaction, saying, “The timing wasn’t right.”
That’s when he turned to Kitayama for advice. He received advice on posture, abdominal pressure, and other topics, including training. Ito expressed his gratitude, saying, “Not only was my posture bad, but I was also losing abdominal pressure, so the timing of my lower and upper throws wasn’t right. I listened to his advice and tried it out, and I was able to keep my switch turned on in other areas as well, which helped me throw.”
After that, he pitched about five more pitches from mound. “The last one was good. I’m glad I was able to make some adjustments today,” he said, expressing his satisfaction. “We haven’t won a CS yet, so I’d like to get our first win in the CS,” he said enthusiastically.
