Luciano Ligabue, An icon of Italian rock, he performed today at the Osaka World’s Fair with a unique show, bringing to Japan his music, capable of fusing rock power and narrative poetry.

“The emotions for me were the same as always. I do this job because I love being on stage. I’ve reached the 900th (concert) mark. Along with the usual emotions, however, I’ve also been curious about this new context. Add to this the fact that my son is playing with me: it’s a period in which concerts excite me in a special way,” said the artist, interviewed during his visit to the Italian Pavilion, which for nearly six months has been an outpost of Italian excellence and the Italian national system at Expo. “There’s a special kind of art at the Italian Pavilion,” said Ligabue, commenting on the extraordinary original works exhibited inside the pavilion.

“We try to convey what we are. We once again bring the values we know how to convey, through songs, capable of striking a chord, because the sung word has a very different specific weight than the spoken word.” In recent months, Italian music has been a protagonist at the Osaka Expo with concerts by artists of the caliber of Negramaro, Elisa e Achille Lauro. The concerts of great Italian artists will continue even after Osaka: next year Ligabue will bring “Certe Notti” to the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on June 12th, to the Allianz Stadium in Turin on June 17th and to San Siro in Milan on June 20th.
