10:45 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, Japan time: U.S. bases on Okinawa entered Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness 3 at 9:48 a.m. Thursday in advance of Tropical Storm Nakri. High winds are expected within the next 48 hours. More details as we get them.

At 3 a.m., Nakri was 625 miles east-southeast of Kadena Air Base, hurtling northwest at 18 mph with 45-mph sustained winds and 60-mph gusts.

Nakri is forecast by Joint Typhoon Warning Center to pass about 220 miles east of Kadena early Saturday morning, packing 60-mph sustained winds and 75-mph gusts at center.
