More exciting WTA Wuhan matches are scheduled for Day 3. Naomi Osaka, Jasmine Paolini, and rising star Maya Joint’s will all step onto the court. We here at LWOT predict those matches and the rest of the action in our other articles, but which players do you think will win?
WTA Wuhan Day 3 Predictions
Maya Joint vs Katerina Siniakova
Head-to-head: First meeting
Siniakova played exceptionally against Diana Shnaider in the opening round. 19-year-old Joint is one of the breakout stars of 2025 and is challenging to hit through due to her defensive skills. The lively conditions in Wuhan suit Siniakova and give her a better chance of consistently putting Joint under pressure. Despite the Australians’ more impressive season, Siniakova is expected to build on her level against Shnaider and win.
Prediction: Siniakova in 3
Jasmine Paolini vs Yuan Yue
Head-to-head: Paolini 3-0 Yuan
Paolini has a dominant head-to-head record against Yuan, but two of those matches went to a deciding set. Yuan plays best on hard courts, and a lively court in front of home support represents her best chance of overcoming Paolini. Nonetheless, the Italian’s more complete game and her undoubtedly high motivation as she tries to qualify for the WTA Finals make this a tough matchup for Yuan.
Prediction: Paolini in 2

Naomi Osaka vs Linda Noskova
Head-to-head: First meeting
Both players demonstrated outstanding grit in their opening-round matches. Osaka recovered from losing the opening set against Leylah Fernandez, and Noskova overcame Yulia Putintseva in a deciding set. Noskova’s effort was particularly impressive, given it was just two days after she lost the China Open final to Amanda Anisimova. The 20-year-old proved her mentality in that tense battle.
This is a fascinating battle between two of the WTA Tour’s most powerful players. Osaka possesses slightly more firepower, especially on serve. That might prove decisive in a match that could be decided by fine margins. Noskova’s efforts in Beijing last week and against Putinsteva might also catch up with her in this matchup.
Prediction: Osaka in 3
