Aussies have been flocking to Japan and South Korea, as the Asian destinations remain among the most popular for travellers in 2025.

And if you’ve been wanting to go and explore yourself, now might be the perfect time to book with Jetstar launching a major sale to the holiday hotspots.

It comes as Jetstar also launched the first-ever direct flights from Hobart to Newcastle, with sale fares available from just $59 one-way.

With QantasLink also relaunching two routes out of Hobart – flights to Perth restarting last month and flights to Canberra set to take off in late October – Qantas Group’s capacity has increased by more than 76,000 seats a year in and out of the Tasmanian capital.

Jetstar has also recently introduced a new passport scanning feature in the app, allowing travellers to check in faster.

From this week, instead of having to manually enter their passport details, customers can use their mobile phone camera to instantly capture their passport details.

It means Jetstar will be one of few low-cost carriers in the Asia Pacific to offer the passport scanning feature.

The change has been made to reduce passport entry errors and will particularly save time for families and groups checking in.
