WHERE TO STAY IN KYOTO! Best Areas and Budget Hotels!
In this video, we’re going to show you the best area to stay in Kyoto, Japan. So, you’ll be perfectly located to explore the city’s most famous temples, traditional neighborhoods, and must-sea attractions that make Kyoto one of the most incredible cities in the country. And of course, we’ll also share the great and affordable hotels we’ve stayed at there. Let’s go. Kyoto is the cultural heart of Japan, a city full of history, ancient temples, zen gardens, bamboo forests, and neighborhoods that look frozen in time. While it’s a large city, the pace is much calmer than in Tokyo, and you can see a lot either on foot or using public transport. That’s why choosing the right area to stay is key to creating a practical itinerary and enjoying your trip to the fullest. The best area to stay in Kyoto is the Gian district, the city’s most traditional and charming neighborhood. It’s right in the tourist center and close to major attractions like Kiomizera Temple, Yasaka Shrine, the Hagashyama District, and the Kamo River. It’s also where you might catch a glimpse of a geisha walking down the cobblestone streets in the late afternoon. Another great advantage of Geon is its proximity to important bus and train stations, making it easier to reach the more distant temples and even do trips to nearby cities. Staying in Gion, you’ll be 5 minutes from Yasaka Shrine, 10 minutes from Kiomi Zudera, and 15 minutes from the Arasyama Bamboo Grove. There’s so much you can do on foot. Walk through the historic Higashyama district, visit traditional tea houses, watch the sunset at the Kamo River, shop at Nishiki Market, and explore Kenji Temple, one of the oldest in the city. Hotels in Geian and nearby areas usually offer great value for money. You can find well-rated three-star hotels with rates between $100 and $140 for a double room. That’s about $50 to $70 per person. Many of them are traditional ins called Ryokon with great comfort and impeccable service. We’ll leave the link on our page with the hotels we’ve stayed at that were excellent. We created a personalized map that shows exactly where this best area to stay is. In the video description and in the QR code on screen, you’ll find the link to that page which includes the map and the hotels we’ve stayed at and recommend. One of them was great, very cheap, and in a perfect location. Getting around Kyoto is very easy. Many attractions are close to each other, and you can do a lot on foot, especially in areas like Gian and Higashyama. The city also has an excellent public transport network with buses and metro lines connecting all major points. There’s Uber and regular taxis available, but they tend to be more expensive. Most tourists get around using buses and trains, which are safe and efficient. You don’t need to rent a car to explore the city. But if you plan to drive around the region or visit nearby towns with more freedom, renting a car is a good option. To drive in Japan, you’ll need an international driving permit along with your local license. And remember, we’ll leave the link to the car rental comparison site in the description. It always finds prices up to half the cost compared to booking directly with rental companies. And if you want to do day trips from Kyoto, there are some great options. One of the most popular is N, which is less than an hour away by train and is home to the massive Toadai temple and the deer that roam freely in the park. Another option is visiting Osaka, which is also very close and known for its street food, Osaka Castle, and the lively Dottenburi district. You can also visit Uji, famous for its green tea and the biota and temple. In the video description, we’ll leave the link to the site where we always book these tours. It’s the largest in the world and has everything. If you liked the video, like it and subscribe to our channel so you can keep traveling more and better around the world.
