For those new to it, Tokyo Ghoul is set in a world where humanity is secretly at war with Ghouls–human-like beings who can only survive by consuming flesh. Loner Ken Kaneki is thrust into this struggle when a date takes a tragic turn and a desperate operation leaves him transformed into a half-ghoul. Caught between predator and prey, Kaneki must learn to survive in a dangerous new society while holding on to what remains of his humanity. At the same time, Kaneki also learns that not all Ghouls are human-hunting predators, as there exists a deep schism within their species, between Ghouls who wish to coexist with people and factions who are tired of living in secret.

While the Tokyo Ghoul anime is a cult-classic, the manga series is also worth checking out thanks to its elegantly grim art and darker tone. Both the Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul: re boxsets have been substantially discounted since they were first published, and these offer a library of paperback manga to read. The Tokyo Ghoul Complete Manga Box Set comprises all 14 volumes of the original series, while the Tokyo Ghoul:re Complete Manga Box Set contains 16 volumes of the Tokyo Ghoul:re sequel series. Both of these come with exclusive double-sided posters.
