Orange cosmos flowers are putting on a brilliant display of color in a park at the foot of Mt Fuji in central Japan.

There are some 3.2 million cosmos plants growing at Lake Yamanakako Hana no Miyako Park. They started to bloom in late August. The park is about 1,000 meters above sea level.

Video from last Thursday shows visitors strolling and taking pictures under clear autumn skies with Mt Fuji in the background.

A man in his 50s from Tokyo said he was refreshed by the beautiful flowers and enjoyed the cool autumn breeze.

A man in his 80s from Saitama Prefecture said he is happy to see Mt Fuji and so many flowers. He said he will show the pictures he took to his wife.

Park officials say visitors can enjoy cosmos flowers through mid-October.
