Encounters of the Wild is one of the best Tales in Ghost of Yotei, but the game does make you work for it a little. To progress this quest, you’ll need to find and then enter the Sarufutsu Lighthouse in the Teshio Ridge. We’re here to show you exactly how to do that.

Like most of the Nine Tails locations in Ghost of Yotei’s Teshio Ridge, there’s a puzzle attached to the Sarufutsu Lighthouse. However, that’s only half the surprise this Tale has in store for you. One of the most interesting and rewarding locations in Ghost of Yotei, this one is not to be missed.

Where To Find The Sarufutsu Lighthouse

Map marker for Sarufutsu Lighthouse in Ghost of Yotei

Encounters of the Wild will tell you to go to the Sarufutsu Lighthouse, but unfortunately it won’t say any more than that. No map markers here, I’m afraid. Thankfully, it’s a large tower (you do know what a lighthouse is, right?) which makes it quite hard to miss. However, it might not be where you expect.

Despite the name, the Sarufutsu Lighthouse is not on the Sarufutu River. Instead, it’s significantly further south. In fact, as you look at the map, you’ll see there’s a small area at the southern part of the east coast that sticks out before the map outline disappears into the grey area of unreachable territory. It’s in this tucked away area where you’ll find the Sarufutsu Lighthouse.

How To Solve The Sarufutsu Lighthouse Puzzle

Inside the Sarufutsu Lighthouse, there will be two empty plinths in front of the door. To get this door to open, and thus solve the puzzle and continue on with Encounters of the Wild, you need to put a fox statue on each plinth.

Both of these fox statues are already in the room with you, but will not budge. Next to them, there is a larger fox statue on either side. Rotating these correctly will free the small fox statue to be placed on the plinth. In both cases, you need to make the large foxes both face inwards. With this done, pick up the small foxes and place them facing away from each other.

After this, you will continue in to a Nine Tails fortress, but don’t worry about facing any combat here…
