Celebrity Millennium Circle Japan Cruise | Exploring Northern Japan
We’ve been doing a 12-day Circle Japan cruise on the Celebrity Millennium. Our cruise is drawing to a close as we head towards the northern ports of Hakadate and Amorei. Well, another sea day as we sail from Korea back to Japan. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] Hi there. Hi there. So, uh here we are in Hakadate. We just had to get through immigration cuz we’ve re-entered Japan having been in Korea 2 days ago. Yep. Took about an hour, I think, to get through immigration off the ship. Big cues, but everyone they have to clear the ship, so everyone has to get off. And now we’re going for a walk to a fort or we’re going to catch a tram to a fort. The weather’s beautiful. It’s clear and sunny and uh it’s not very humid. So, no, it’s it’s actually much nicer. At this time of year, you want to be up in far northern Japan, we’ve decided. Yes. Just beautiful. Lovely weather. No humidity at all. [Music] Can we have a look at [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] heading towards the fort after descending from the tower which is behind us there. And you can go through for 500 yen. You have to remove your shoes, but it would appear that you can see a lot from walking the perimeter. [Music] I don’t know if I need to walk the fortifications. Don’t you? I can walk a little bit of the fortifications, but I really don’t see the point. Oh, okay. I’m feeling an urging for a a ramen noodle bowl or something. I’m feeling an urging for a fresh burger or for a burger. Do you hear me? Maybe a karyaki chicken burger. Yeah, that will work. Will that do? Yep. [Music] What you got here? And we’re going to go one of these shrimp tempers. Okay. So Stuart is preparing for his lunch by putting the apron on. It’s a it’s a sensible precaution, James. This is a raka lemon drink. [Music] Well, Caesar salad has arrived. [Music] Okay, so we had a Caesar salad. This is my curry soup, which mine has shrimp tempura. We each have a small dish of rice and Stuart’s is chicken curry soup. And then I assume assume the chicken’s already in there. Ah, yes. So quite the feast. Quite the feast. All right. So here’s our next stop, the ropeway to the top of the hill. So here we are at the Hakodate ropeway up to the top of the mountain. It was uh 1,800 yen each for a roundtrip ticket. It’s pretty cheap. And I think had we done this first thing, we probably would have got a one-way ticket, you know, ropeway up and walk down. But it’s getting a bit late in the day. And we’re very full of uh curry soup. We’re full of curry soup and in my case, prawn tempura. So anyway, only only a 3minute wait here. And we’re boarding our cable car. I hope we’re boarding. Hope we’re boarding it. This is not [Music] too [Music] late as you face the direction of travel. [Music] I think that would be too much of a client. Yeah, I’m glad we did the roadway. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Go. [Music] So, we finally made our way to the red brick warehouses of Hakadate. Last on our list of sites to see in this port. Okay. Ice cream. Breakers. There you go. I didn’t know chopsticks were gendered. Thin chopsticks. Lucky pattern chopsticks. Easy to hold chopsticks. [Music] It’s late in the day. Weary legs taking us back to the ship. And we find our way back to the celebrity millennium here in Hecodate. Fairly full days exploring. Let’s [Music] go. There’s lobster and fell minion. Beautiful. And there is the remnants of the lobster. [Music] Today we are at Amorei. I think it’s pronounced Amorei. Possibly Amory. That’s Amorei. Yeah. Uh, and apparently there’s really nothing to do here, so we might just stay on board. So Stew’s got blueberry danishes on request. The request was for blueberry danish, but they’re they’re very generous and they’ve given you given you two. Yeah. Whereas I have gone for the standard fruit plate, which I enjoy every morning. Plus, we’re getting our proper coffees. Getting an early start in the salarium. There’s nobody here. It’s 9:00 a.m. and on a port day, it appears everyone else has gone ashore to look at the stunning vista of Amore. [Music] A very lazy day in the port of Amori. We didn’t get off the ship. We went to the Cararium at 9:00 a.m. and stayed there till 4:00 p.m. Only only moving for food and replenishment. Anyway, doesn’t sound like we missed much. [Music] [Music] last night steaming towards Tokyo. [Music] [Music] There we go. Go cheese soule calamari. I’m not going to have getting a shot of my prime rib. My chocolate cherry trifle. And so here we are back where we began at Yokohama. We’re at the Yokohama terminal. 7:30. We have to leave our cabin and go down to Blue for breakfast and then wait to be called for our disembarkation period. Well, after a week in this cabin, I would say I’m pretty pleased. It’s been a good cabin. All in all, a good week or good 12 days. My only complaint, my only stupid complaint is that the the switch for this lamp on the left hand side of the bed is all the way up here and you can’t you can’t reach it from bed. So, you have to get out of bed to turn the the lamp switch off. If that’s your only complaint, that’s not too big. That’s the only thing I can think of. Okay. Everything else Everything else worked perfectly, didn’t you think? I think the whole room is great. Thus endeth our 12-day Circle Japan cruise on the Celebrity Millennium. And today we’re heading down to we’re actually heading back down to Asaka on the Shinkansen and then getting a local train to Kitanab on the Wakamaya Peninsula to begin the Kamano Codo walk, a 4-day walk. Weather forecast doesn’t look too good though, so we’ll see how we go. And so after a wonderful 12 days on the Celebrity Millennium, we bid farewell to our friends and caught the bullet train to Osaka. If you would like to follow our 4-day hike on the Kamano Cotto, please like and subscribe. [Music] Yeah. [Music] Oh. [Music]
