The event will be held on Wednesday, October 22, at 7.30pm, at Uplyme Village Hall.
The talk will be delivered by Charles Chesshire, an international garden designer and local nurseryman.
Mr Chesshire will explore the simplicity and abstract interpretation of nature that the Japanese create to perfection.
He has designed Japanese gardens worldwide, taught the subject in New York, and authored a book titled Japanese Gardens.
His rare plant nursery at Symondsbury, near Bridport, boasts a wide variety of shrubs and herbaceous plants for gardeners of all levels.
The nursery also features a garden area with prototype demonstration borders in various styles, suitable for both sun and shade.
Doors will open at 7pm for refreshments.
The event is free for members, while non-members will need to pay £3.
