Omukade

EXCLUSIVE: Thai creature horror Omukade has sold to a raft of territories including Japan, Germany and Latin America, as the last title on which Neramitnung Film will handle international sales.

The film, which had its world premiere at Austria’s Slash Film Festival last week, is about a group of Japanese soldiers and their prisoners who must band together when they are trapped underground and hunted by a giant carnivorous centipede.

Bangkok-based Neramitnung has closed sales deals with Abnormal Studio for Japan and Southeast Asia excluding Singapore; KillerMud Films for Singapore; Vitality International for Taiwan; Om Sakthi Movie Arts for SAARC; Busch Media Group for German-speaking territories; and Encripta for Latin America.

The film is directed by Chalot Krailerdmongkol and Pakphum Wongjinda as a prequel to their 2022 horror creature Creepy Crawly (aka The One Hundred). Chalot is a visual effects specialist whose directing debut Leio also played at Slash in 2022.

Omukade is set to receive its Thai theatrical release on January 22, 2026. The cast includes Narilya Gulmongkolpech, Daung, James Laver and Yasaka Chaisorn.

The feature was one of a string of projects to benefit from a new funding scheme launched by Thailand Creative Culture Agency (THACCA) earlier this year, designed to support the country’s local creative industry.

It also marks the last title that Neramitnung will handle for international markets. Following corporate restructure in October, the Bangkok-based firm will shift its focus to production and move its acquisition and sales business to its marketing and distribution arm Shinesaeng Ad.Venture.

Shinesaeng Ad.Venture is taking part at the ongoing Talad Nang film market, which runs from October 1-4 as part of the revived Bangkok International Film Festival (BKKIFF).
