Many visitors flocked to a mountain in Japan’s Yamanashi Prefecture to catch the natural phenomenon known as “Diamond Fuji.”

The sight occurs when the rising or setting sun aligns with the peak of Mount Fuji, creating the appearance of a shining diamond.

At around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, the visitors ascended to the top of Mount Minobu. They were treated to the picturesque sight of a sea of clouds forming against the background of Japan’s highest peak basking in the glow of the rising sun.

Shortly after 6 a.m., with the crest of Mount Fuji shining even brighter, the sun started to appear directly above the summit, creating the magnificent spectacle.

A man who watched the scenic marvel with his wife said that the view was gorgeous thanks in part to the emergence of the clouds.

Another visitor said that he was worried about the weather but he feels happy to see the beautiful sight.
