Ghost of Yōtei is ready to transport players to a stunning action-adventure world, but you don’t have to wait for the game’s release to begin your journey.
Eager fans can make their gaming experience even more immersive by joining a tour of the real-life locations that inspired the game’s breathtaking setting.
To bring this world to life, PlayStation and Klook have teamed up to offer a curated journey through Hokkaido in Japan to explore the landscapes that shaped the game’s world.
You’ll feel as if you’ve traveled back to the Edo period as you’ll get to experience samurai shows, ninjas, Edo-style streets, and more.
Among the exciting locations in the tour is the Noboribetsu Date Jidai Mura, a living history village of Hokkaido during Edo-era. Here, you can make your fantasies a reality as you’ll be able to try your hand at Japanese archery, shuriken tossing, and even dress as a samurai.
You can also discover ancient artifacts at the Katana Museum, which is a recreation of Katakura Kojuro’s samurai residence, and enjoy stunning views by climbing up the Fire Watchtower.
Noboribetsu Jigokudani PlayStation
The tour continues with a visit to Noboribetsu Jigokudani or Hell Valley, a volcanic landscape filled with steaming vents, jagged cliffs, and many oni statues. This place had inspired the game’s mist-shrouded fortresses and Oni domains.
And as for the name? Local legends said that Noboribetsu Jigokudani is inhabited by demon gods who protect the medicinal baths.
Lake Toya PlayStation
Next up is Lake Toya, which serves as a perfect backdrop to get some pictures thanks to its tranquil waters and a majestic view of Mount Yōtei. This place was the basis for the game’s serene hot spring scenes.
It’s the perfect chance to slow down, enjoy the hot springs, and take in the peaceful views around you.
Mount Yōtei PlayStation
The tour will also bring you to Mount Yōtei, which is regarded as the symbol of Hokkaido and is a highlight in the game’s setting. You can marvel at the picturesque landscapes from Nakayama Pass and Lake Hill Farm.
