The automaker confirmed the world premiere of a new Honda 0 Series model and a compact EV prototype, both destined for production

Honda To Reveal Two Mystery World Premieres At Tokyo Show

Honda teased its exhibits for the 2025 Japan Mobility Show starting October 29.

A photo shows nine covered cars, some brand new and others already on sale.

Highlights include another Honda 0 Series model and a brand new compact EV.

Update: Fresh details are in about what Honda plans to bring to the Japan Mobility Show 2025, formerly known as the Tokyo Motor Show until two years ago, which opens on October 29. The company will showcase five upcoming production cars, two of which are brand-new EVs making their world debuts.

Honda is gearing up for a busy Tokyo auto show, with the standout reveal being a fresh addition to the 0 Series lineup. It will appear alongside the Saloon and SUV prototypes, both on track for production in 2026. According to the company, this newcomer is meant to “enable more people to feel the value of the Honda 0 Series.”

While many would hope for an electric sports car, the silhouettes that appear on the official teaser suggest it will be yet another crossover/SUV. Earlier announcements for Honda’s future EV strategy mentioned a large three-row SUV that would debut in 2027 but has reportedly been shelved, a compact SUV for 2028, and a small SUV for 2029.

More Electrified Products

Another debut that has been officially confirmed is “the prototype of a compact EV” that promises to combine “outstanding usability and the joy of driving.” According to Honda, the prototype is “currently undergoing road testing in countries with strong demand for compact EVs, including Japan, the UK, and Asian countries”. This makes us believe it could be the camouflaged Super EV prototype shown at Goodwood earlier this year.

The yet-unnamed model will be joined by the similar electric Honda N-One e: kei car, recently introduced in the Japanese market. In a separate stand, Mugen will likely show its own version of the N-One e: fitted with optional accessories.

Honda will also exhibit a prototype of the CR-V e:HEV which is scheduled to go on sale in Japan, joining the hydrogen-powered CR-V e:FCEV. The company will also bring the fully electric Acura RSX Prototype painted in a new color.

The Prelude Will Be There

The reborn Honda Prelude will also be present in its final production form, following the nearly identical prototype from 2023. The hybrid model went on sale in Japan earlier this month, generating a lot of buzz with its premium pricing. A closer look at the teaser reveals two coupe silhouettes side by side, raising questions about what the second coupe might be.

While some would hope for a performance-focused Prelude Type R, chances are it will be another standard model with a different spec. This could be the ON Limited Edition with a black roof and dealer-installed extras, a modified example with the optional Sports Style package, or just a regular Prelude in a different shade.

Beyond Four Wheels

Cars will not be the only attraction. Honda plans to exhibit seven motorcycles, a selection of power products, and even an aircraft. The aviation centerpieces will be a full-scale interior mockup of the HondaJet Elite II small business jet, and a “sustainable rocket”.

On the two-wheeled side, notable entries include the world premieres of an electric urban motorcycle concept and an e-MTB (mountain bike) prototype destined for production. These will be joined by the CUV e: scooter, the Rebel 1100 S DCT motorcycle, and more.

The press days of the Tokyo show will take place on October 29 and 30, while the public can visit between October 31 and November 9. Honda fans can also check out the automaker’s dedicated website for the show.
