Inside Travel Group is launching its largest-ever programme of small group tours to Japan for 2026 under its InsideJapan brand.

The expanded schedule includes more departures, including additional shoulder season and off-peak options.

Group Tour Programme Operations Manager Richard Farmer said the brand decided to grow its small group tours in Japan following ‘exceptional’ sales in 2025.

He said: “Our 2025 tours sold at a pace we’ve never seen before which not only reflects the popularity of Japan right now, but the demand for the ‘Insider’ escorted small group tour.

“Our popular ‘Spring Elegance and Autumn Elegance’ tours sold out completely – even after we added extra departures – and our only all-inclusive ‘All-in Japan’ tour, followed closely behind. We also saw very strong uptake for award-winning ‘Majestic Japan ‘and our new ‘Must-see Japan’ tour, despite its later release.”

Example small group tours include the ‘Winter Highlights’ tour, visiting the northern island of Hokkaido. There’s also the ‘Hidden Japan’ tour of Shikoku – the smaller of Japan’s main islands, and ‘A Northern Soul’ tour that includes a visit to Honshu.

InsideJapan has reduced the cost of off-peak tours by 7% in the shoulder season and 15% in the off-peak season to encourage more people to holiday when fewer people are travelling.

Richard added: “For example, a July departure on ‘Classic Japan’ is priced over £800 lower per person than October – and the experience is just as culturally rich.”
