With the current high temps around Japan, it’s hard to believe that the spookiest season is just around the corner!
In the Land of the Rising Sun, Halloween season means that many amusement parks roll out spooky decorations and events sure to keep you entertained.
Don’t miss Sanrio Puroland’s “PUROHALLOWEEN,” a ghostly celebration featuring Hello Kitty, My Melody and all the other Sanrio characters you love roaming around the Sanrio theme park.
At Tokyo Disney Resort, Mickey and Minnie and Disney villains are dressing up for “Disney Halloween 2025.” Even Huis Ten Bosch, near Sasebo Naval Base, is marking the ghoulish season with Haunted Halloween Dance Night Show,” which let you enjoy the addictive horror with ghouls, goblins and zombies coming out of nowhere and inviting you for a dance.
Not only is there great entertainment, but the parks also offer Halloween-themed foods and merchandise. So, make plans for bone-chilling fun, food and shopping!
Sanrio Puroland

This year, the theme is “Witches come back to Puroland.”
Enjoy fun activities like the “Let’s Magic Festa” where you can check out an illusion show by Hello Kitty and top Japanese magicians (every weekend and holiday throughout the period). You can participate in the show as an apprentice witch. On weekdays, enjoy PUROHALLOWEEN Satsueikai (photo session),” where characters dressed in sorcerer and witch costumes dance under illuminations. While you’re there, check out the spooky decorations and illuminations in Puro Village, as well as the regular Sanrio rides and displays.
If you are over age 20, join an all-night Halloween party “Spooky Pumpkin 2025” on Oct. 25 (tickets are available after Oct. 11). In the party, 65 artists, performers and puro characters offer live music and various fun performances at the five sites that will make your Halloween spooky and thrilling.

Both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea are hosting a variety of fun, spooky events to get you in the spirit. At Tokyo Disneyland, enjoy the “Disney Villains Halloween into the Frenzy” featuring popular Disney villains invite Mickey, Minnie and their friends and guests to exciting dance and performance, as well as the Haunted Mansion’s yearly switch to its Nightmare Before Christmas theme.
Head to the Halloween Fair at Tokyo Disney Sea’s Mediterranean Harbor for pictures with costumed cast members, and even partake in some trick-or-treating. In the evening, the park undergoes a spooky, foggy transformation, setting a mysterious mood.
Both parks have seasonal snacks you’ve got to try. At Disneyland, sample Ursula’s (from “The Little Mermaid”) special set, featuring a salad of Ursula-shaped black tortilla and Pescatore made from squid ink, which evokes the deep sea. Disney Sea’s spooky offerings include Halloween Sundae (Mickey-shaped candy sweet potatoes and chestnuts).

If you want to up the fear factor, Universal Studios Japan is where you want to go for a screaming good time. The Halloween events in the daytime are great for the entire family to enjoy.
Check out the “Hahaha! Halloween Party” with all your favorite characters, from Pokemon, Hello Mimmy and Minions strolling around the park. Enter the haunted houses if you dare. At night, brace yourself for the famous “Halloween Horror Nights,” where ghouls, goblins and zombies come out to play. The scary night scene includes live entertainment, music and scares, so get ready for a full day of Halloween fun.
Don’t forget to take a break and enjoy seasonal treats like the Litwick’s Hamburger Plate and Pumpkaboo’s Chicken Bagul Sand Plate.

Huis Ten Bosch

In the picturesque European landscape, you can dance with Miffy and other Huis Ten Bosch characters in the “Miffy Halloween Party Parade.” Kids can get candy when they pitch a magical chant to shopkeepers inside the park’s shops.
At the Palace Huis Ten Bosch, join “Haunted Halloween Dance Night Show,” where you can enjoy the addictive horror while dancing with goblins and zombies who come out of nowhere and invite you for a spooky dance (Thurs.– Mon., at 7 p.m.) and wrap up the night with Halloween Party Fireworks (at 8:45 p.m. on Sats and Suns throughout the period).
While there, don’t forget to sample the Halloween Party Puff with colorful fruits and pumpkin.
