Located in Hokkaido’s Akeno Kita Industrial Park, the facility will have a design capacity of 20.57 MW (DC) and a grid-connected output of 13 MW (AC). It is expected to generate approximately 23 million kWh annually and reduce CO₂ emissions by around 9,700 tonnes per year. With its coastal location, strong winds, heavy snowfall, and high humidity, Tomakomai demands exceptional system durability and operational reliability.
JA Solar’s DeepBlue 4.0 Pro n-type modules are engineered to meet these challenges. Having passed enhanced international certification tests for salt mist, ammonia, sand and dust, uneven snow load, and high wind speeds, the modules offer long-term stability in coastal and heavy-snow regions. With high conversion efficiency, minimal degradation, and robust bifacial performance, DeepBlue 4.0 Pro enables higher energy yields and a lower levelized cost of electricity throughout the project lifecycle.
The Tomakomai project demonstrates the enduring trust that Japanese partners place in JA Solar. In 2015, the company supplied all modules for the 29.8 MW Yufutsu Solar Power Plant in Tomakomai, which continues to perform reliably today. In 2019, JA Solar modules powered the 32 MW Shibetsu solar-plus-storage project—then one of Hokkaido’s largest integrated facilities—exceeding performance expectations and earning high recognition from stakeholders. These successful deployments reinforce JA Solar’s reputation as a dependable partner in Japan’s renewable energy transition.
Aiqing Yang, Executive President of JA Solar, commented: “In Japan, where extreme weather and long-term performance are critical, our DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules offer proven resilience and value. By combining advanced n-type technology, local service support, and a strong track record, JA Solar will deliver dependable, high-value solutions that help Japan achieve its clean energy goals.”
