Kyoto Kitchen on Bridge Street in Winchester hosted the worldwide football star on Saturday, September 27.

As well as playing for Leicester City, Everton, Barcelona, and Tottenham Hotspur, Lineker also spent two years in Japan playing for Nagoya Grampus Eight.

The former Match of the Day presenter was in the area filming a brand new TV series and will be around for a few more weeks.

Kyoto Kitchen owner, Miff Kayum, said: “What an incredible night at Kyoto Kitchen. We had the pleasure of welcoming football legend Gary Lineker, who sampled our freshly grated wasabi and loved every bite.

“It was especially meaningful as Gary played football in Japan for two years and wowed everyone with his Japanese speaking skills while chatting with Chef Shintaro Ito.

“We’re truly honoured to have him visit and share in our passion for authentic Japanese cuisine.”
