COMO Cocoa Island Maldives, 5-Star Luxury Resort with Boat Villas (4K Hotel Tour & Vlog)

Today we will be staying at COMO Cocoa Island, 5-star luxury resort in the Maldives. Overwater boat villa tour. Beach and sandbank. Snorkeling. COMO Shambhala Spa. Yoga. Semi-buffet breakfast at Ufaa Restaurant. Full resort facilities. World’s most beautiful sunsets. Romantic dinner on the beach. Please enjoy the two-nights stay! COMO Cocoa Island is located in the South Malé Atoll of the Maldives. Hi. We’ll start our tour at Velana International Airport in Male, the capital of the Maldives. From here, we met the resort staff who guided us to our boat transfer. Cocoa boat. Our transfer from Malé Airport to COMO Cocoa Island takes about 40 minutes. As a welcome gesture, we were given signature cold towels. Time to depart. Hope the sea is calm today even though it will rain. Got some water. The resort is operated by COMO Hotels and Resorts, a Singapore-based luxury brand. COMO Cocoa Island is their boutique private island property in the Maldives, with only 33 overwater villas. For all luxury resorts in the Maldives, staff will be waiting at the arrival pier. From here, we’ll walk along the pier towards the reception area. COMO Cocoa Island is small so you can basically walk around the entire island in just a few minutes. Nice water and beach even though the weather is not the best. It will get better later on! The reception is open-air. Upon arrival, we were once again welcomed with refreshing towels. The setting here is calm, with an intimate barefoot-luxury atmosphere. Fresh coconuts as a welcome drink. Cheers. COMO Cocoa Island first opened in 2002 and was fully renovated in 2019. Since COMO Cocoa Island is so small, no buggies or bicycles are needed. From the arrival jetty, a hotel representative guided us to the overwater villas. The resort offers only overwater villas, so you won’t see any beach villas. The deck is a little wet now. The villas are designed in the shape of traditional Maldivian fishing boats, called dhonis, making the resort very unique. We’ll be staying in a Dhoni Water Villa, which is their entry-level category. Villa CO-817. It’s the only resort in the Maldives with boat-shaped villas. A short wooden pier connects the villa to the island. Traditional key design. Let’s see what it looks like inside. If you’d like to book a stay here, drop us an email or message and we’ll be happy to plan your trip! The price for this villa is around 1,200–1,500 USD per night, tax included. It measures about 75 square meters, with plenty of space and direct lagoon access from the terrace. Room from another angle. I like that both the interior and exterior design are kept simple. First, let’s see the minibar. There are some complimentary snacks placed on the tray. Chocolate biscuits, almonds, dried fruits, mix of nuts. Glassware for water or juice. Alcohol is available at an additional cost. COMO Cocoa complimentary water. A decorative flower in a vase. Welcome fruits and a welcome letter from the management. There is guava, lychee, plums, orange, grapes. The welcome coconut is fresh and little sweet. Refrigerator is located here. Inside, there are a few items. Two types of Lindt chocolate bars. Bottle of Prosecco. Sauvignon Blanc from New Zeeland brand.
“Just Rose” is a wine produced in France. Tiger beer. Sodas are replenished daily and are complimentary, just like the snack jars. Milk for the coffee or tea. Nespresso and electric kettle. Coffee capsules and tea. Breakfast menu. There are plenty of options to choose from including juices, coffee, granola bowls, oatmeal porridge, eggs any style and buttermilk pancakes. Nespresso coffee capsules and TWG tea from Singapore. The coffee cups are by Patra, a brand from Thailand. The chips are available at an extra charge. Evian and S. Pellegrino water. Private bar menu. Champagne, sparkling wine are the most expensive. The bed is king-sized. The blanket has a pleasant pattern and texture. The pillow and mattress have a medium firmness. Reading lights. Gree air conditioner and Fanco TV remote controls. I was wondering where the air conditioner is. Alarm clock on the other nightstand. Wooden tissue box.
COMO’s policy for refreshing linens and towels during your stay. Next, let’s take a look at the small living area. Small white sofa. The welcome sweets in the villa are actually healthy oat-based snacks. The welcome drink is Italian sparkling wine Canetelli Prosecco. TV is placed in front of the sofa. The overwater villa has two fans to provide extra breeze and help with the tropical heat. I’m really curious about the bathroom as it felt unique at first sight. The bathroom includes a small dressing area, twin washbasins, a bathtub, a walk-in shower and a toilet. There are yoga mats on the top shelf. White bathrobes.
Cocoa Island is written. At first, I thought it was a massive beach bag but it’s actually for towel replacement. 🙂 This is the beach bag that we can use only during our stay. The COMO indoor slippers are white and have a texture similar to firm linen. Bath towels are placed on a decorative ladder. Tub. My favorite feature of the villa is this window. It truly creates the feeling of living aboard an actual boat. Water pressure is nice for a boat. COMO Shambhala body wash and scrum with orange. Wasbasins counter. Small makeup mirror. Power outlets for different purposes. Invigorate lotion. Amenities can be found here ranging from facial cottons and cotton buds to shower caps and more. Black hairdryer. White scale. On the other side of the first glass doors is the walk-in shower. There is a good size shower. Full-length window. All the amenities in the room are COMO branded. Next is the happy place. Toilet. A safety deposit box is provided for your valuables. Laundry bag and menu. Let’s step out onto the deck. The terrace of this villa is quite spacious for an entry-level villa. Two comfortable sunbeds on the left side and a table with chairs. From here, we can overlook the stunning Indian Ocean. It is going to be a nice sunset this evening. There is also a staircase on the terrace that allows us to get into the water. The water temperature in the Maldives is warm year-round, usually between 27°C and 30°C (81 °F – 86 °F). Well, that concludes our tour of the boat villa. Oh, forgot to show you this nice touch.
The green ball signals service, while a red one means “do not disturb”. Resort evacuation plan. Next, we’ll explore the pool area along with Hufaa, the resort’s all-day dining restaurant. The way is beautiful. Ufaa is the resort’s signature all-day dining restaurant, offering a variety of international and Maldivian-inspired dishes. Restaurant terrace is facing the pool. Faru Bar. Between the restaurant and the bar stands a big tree. The pool at COMO Cocoa Island stretches along the beach and it is a long pool. The sun is beautiful. The pool is open daily from 7 am until sunset. Beach. This is where we can get some pool towels. Since it’s our first day here, I want to try the pool at least. In August, sunsets in the Maldives are breathtaking with skies often more cloudy and dramatic due to the monsoon season. Time to get changed for dinner. All the villas are beautifully lit. Their warm glow reflecting on the water creates a calming atmosphere after sunset. Be right back. Ufaa restaurant opens for dinner from 7 pm until 10 pm. Let’s see how is it like inside. The dining room has an even nicer atmosphere than I expected. It’s really spacious and almost all the tables are placed on the right side, facing the pool and the sea. At night the pool around the dining room is illuminated in blue, creating a magical ambiance. Faru Bar is the island’s only bar, offering a relaxed setting by the water to enjoy cocktails and sunsets. The chairs here are actually chess pieces. The decor is beautiful, with red touches here and there. Let’s take a seat out on the terrace. The table is set with placemats designed to resemble a chessboard. Also the table itself. First, we take a look at the menu. The dinner menu changes every few days so guests can enjoy different flavors and dishes. Dessert menu includes mango and coconut mousse, passion fruit soufflé.
Digestive drinks. The COMO Shambhala menu offers a selection of healthy nourishing dishes inspired by wellness cuisine. Wine list. Wine by the bottles like I Lauri from Abruzzo Italy. Cocoa Signature cocktails and spritz. “Immune boost” juice, “Digest aids” juice. I love that this hotel offers sake, the traditional Japanese rice wine. Wet towels for cleaning our hands. Pool has a beautiful blue color. For the starters, we ordered the Buffalo mozzarella and the oysters. Oysters come with green chili, lime dressing. This one has a powerful smell. Also, we received some salted butter and vegetable spread. With pita bread and fresh made bread buns. Looking good. The buffalo cheese comes with hairloom tomatoes, radicchio, basil, red onions, olives, capers. It has a delicate, less salty flavor with a smooth texture. Oyster time. There are different types of oysters, each with its own flavor. Some are briny and salty, others sweeter or more delicate. These ones don’t have a very strong taste but they’re still great. Crip bread. Best combination. A visit to the Maldives in August often comes with more unpredictable weather as it is part of the monsoon season. Main course. This is the Tandoor reef fish. Black onxy Angus striploin. Reef fish is freshly caught local fish, sourced from the Maldivian waters. It is very soft and little sweet due to the soup. Some mushrooms. The Angus meat is seasoned with spices and cooked medium-well. Comes with caramelized onions, crispy onion rings and jus. French fries to share. I got to try some myself. We just ordered the desserts, but before that we were served some in-house tea sweets. This is dark chocolate. WOW. Chocolate device with salted ice-cream. Mango coconut mousse. It’s always a pleasure to cut open the desserts. Inside, there’s a rich mango jam. Fresh mango cubes. Chocolate is insanely good. Salted ice-cream. Thank you for the food. The pool changes shades of blue from time to time. There are still many people around even though it is almost 10 pm. Before heading back to the room, we’ll stop by the jetty to feed some fish. The area around the villas is very quiet. From the jetty, you can watch dozens of colorful fish swirling beneath the surface, attracted by the lights. A baby shark family. Cute! Many flying fish as well… Just returned to the villa. By this hour, turndown service had already been done. At night, the boat villa feels calm. The curtains are drawn, the fans create a gentle breeze and the bed is arranged for the night. Indoors slippers have been placed next to it along with some water. Get into bed now and relax. It is a premium quality bathrobe. I’m thinking about taking a bath with salt. The tub is quite small, so it fills up in just a few minutes. I will add some aromatic salt to it. That was it for the first day at Cocoa Island. It’s the next day and I’m already excited about today’s activities. Good morning. Right next to our villa we’ve seen a turtle. Good thing that the boats are still here and haven’t drifted into the ocean. (kidding) Breakfast is served either at the restaurant as a semi buffet or in the villa. The atmosphere feels a bit different here during the day compared to last night. Breakfast buffet is set in the middle of the room. The breakfast buffet at Cocoa Island offers a mix of fresh fruits, pastries, cereals and hot dishes, along with some juices. Passion fruit muesli.
Forrest fruit yogurt. Mango yogurt. Chia pudding with strawberries. Plain and with coconut. We can pair the yogurts with some granola made in house. Signature one, COMO Shambhala natural muesli. Flakes. Milks. Mix fruit salad. Fruits like melon, pineapple. Papaya.
Watermelon is in large quantity. Poached rhubarb is a rather uncommon choice for breakfast. Dried fruit compote includes plums, apricots and some nuts. Detox green juice. Orange juice that looks like pineapple. Watermelon juice. Grilled bread. Pastries. Orange marmalade, peanut butter, plum and passion fruit jams. Salty cake. Plain, chocolate and coconut croissants. Fruit danishes, raisin rolls. Banana bread. Breakfast is served from 7:30 am until 10 am. In addition to the buffet table, there’s also an à la carte menu. All the choices on the menu are healthy. Options like “Very berry smoothie bowl” and “Ricotta pancakes” stand out. Food is here! We ordered Smoked salmon plate. Plate has pumpernickel, cottage cheese, raw onion rings, capers and a soft boiled egg. Very berry bowl is an açaí bowl with berries, banana, chia pudding, coconut flakes. Chose some stuff from the table. Some fresh squeezed juice. Two free range eggs with some potatoes, tomatoes, bacon, sausage. It is good. Everything tastes so fresh and full of nutrients. The food approach here focuses on fresh, wholesome ingredients and balanced meals. So not too many sweets for a healthier life. Acai bowl fans, this is really good. The muesli has a hearty texture, topped with fresh passion fruit. Watermelon is sweet. The fruit yogurt isn’t very sweet and has a texture similar to panna cotta. Nice and healthy breakfast. Now, let’s explore the island surroundings. The resort island has five different types of overwater accommodations. The villa categories include Dhoni Water Villas, Dhoni Loft Water Villas, and One-, Two-, or Three-Bedroom Water Villas, with the Three-Bedroom being the highest category. This is how they look like. The Two‑Bedroom COMO Sunrise Villa with Pool is priced around $4,822 per night and it is very exclusive. They look beautiful from above. The resort is surrounded by a clear turquoise lagoon with shallow waters. We can see the sandbank from here. Now we’ll explore the water and afterward we’ll head out to see the sandbank. Water feels amazing in the Maldives. COMO Cocoa Island is a natural island, not man-made. That’s why the sand is very soft and powdery, made of fine coral grains that form over centuries. So satisfying. The island’s famous sandbank is a strip of white sand surrounded by water. The long sandbank is a highlight that attracts many visitors, even though it isn’t owned by the resort itself. Sandbank is surrounded by gentle sand waves, constantly reshaped by the ocean currents and tides. Beautiful.. It stretches for about 1 km, while being just a few meters wide. Many boats come to visit it so we are lucky to have it right next to us. The water in this part of the island looks absolutely surreal. We can enjoy the view and relax on the sunbeds nearby. The umbrella design is beautiful. Cold water is provided at all the sunbeds. Someone came to say hi! We can see many geckos and lizards here, very common around villas and trees.
They’re small and completely harmless. Right next to the sandbank are the gym and yoga pavilion. We’ll visit them a little later today. Surf boards can be used any time and they are complimentary. There are many places around the island where we can stay. Hammocks. It’s also a volleyball court. Next we are at COMO Spa. Entrance to COMO Shambhala Retreat. It has cabana treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, steam rooms and a relaxation area with views of the lagoon. Spa reception area. Just like the other places on the island, the reception is open-air. White sofa where guests can stay before or after the treatments. Two sofas are placed for the same purpose. At the spa only COMO Shambhala products are used for treatments, from oils to scrubs and lotions. Massage treatment room for couple. Let’s take a look inside the room. The interior is actually very similar to the one in our villa. Two chairs are used before the massage starts for washing the feet. Oils to choose from. The treatment beds are prepared with fresh linens, facing the lagoon for a calming view. (even though we won’t be able to see the view during the massage) Let’s also see the outdoor shower area. Bathtub and shower. The amenities are thoughtfully prepared here, even COMO slippers are provided. The COMO Shambhala 60-minute massage is priced at US $140, with longer sessions available at higher rates. One of the highlights of the spa is the hydrotherapy pool. It is a large indoor pool and the window design is very unique. Towels and phone are available. The entire pool can actually be rented for private sessions.
We can stay here alone for the next hour. There are many powerful jets positioned around the pool to massage different areas of the body like back, shoulders and legs. The hydrotherapy pool is kept at a warm temperature of around 36–38°C (96–100 °F). The first one that we are going to try here are the hydrotherapy beds. They are set underwater and when you lie down, the jets massage your whole body. Next is a jet for the neck and upper back. The pressure feels strong, and it really works on the tension in this area. To start the jacuzzi, we have to get out of the water and press the button. Water from the holes is released automatically. Feels so nice. Each treatment is created to release tension, restore balance and enhance overall wellbeing. Here is the dedicated shower and changing area for women. Inside, you’ll find toilets and washbasins stocked with a full set of amenities. Second entrance to the indoor pool Shower is provided. Pool regulations and the names of the jets are displayed in both English and Chinese. Instructions. Next, we’ll continue our island tour with the pool and beach area. There are some narrow pathways around the island leading down to the beach. This island is very small and intimate. You can actually walk around the entire island in just 10 minutes, since it’s only 500 meters long. Pool is so bright today. There are sunbeads arranged in lines on the left side. The island is surrounded by beaches everywhere, but this is the main beach area, where most people choose to come. There are also two sitting areas here, each with large inflatable lounge chairs. It feels very private and peaceful, even though it’s the main beach area. The shallow lagoon makes it perfect for swimming. We went to the marine sports center to rent gear for snorkeling. They also provide information about the diving and snorkeling areas nearby. COMO Cocoa Island has its own Cocoa Thila dive site, considered one of the best in the Maldives. Cocoa Island has access to three different reefs: Bay reef, Shambhala reef, Como reef. For snorkeling, we’ll need a mask, fins and a life jacket if you prefer. The equipment is free for all guests on the island, but private snorkeling sessions come at an extra cost. There is information about the reefs, such as which ones are suitable for beginners or intermediate levels, along with details on depth and water conditions. Back in the water to see some fish. We can already see them. The waters around Cocoa Island are perfect for snorkeling, with fish right off the beach. Wow, there are so many black fish here. If we’re lucky, we might spot sharks, turtles or rays. Hmm, a blue fish is chasing the school. 🙂 Next, we’ll have a private sunset yoga session by the sandbank. Yoga pavilion and gym. I am excited. Classes focus on breathing, stretching and gentle movements that relax both body and mind. Yoga movements improve flexibility, strengthen core muscles, release tension, and help you feel calmer and more energized. The instructor here was really calm and so friendly! Had a great time. This movement hurts. The group classes usually take place in an open-air pavilion overlooking the ocean with a beautiful and peaceful setting. The view is really beautiful. Gym entrance. The resort has a fully equipped gym with cardio machines, free weights and space for stretching or personal workouts. It is equipped with Life Fitness machines. Including cardio machines such as treadmills, steppers and bicycles. Free weights, exercise balls. Water, green apples and some healthy biscuits are provided. COMO Shambhala healthy cookies. Schedule of daily activities include complimentary mat pilates, meditation, sleep yoga. In addition to the complimentary activities, the resort also offers experiences at an extra cost such as wellness talks, cooking classes, private island picnics and sunset cruises. We’re back on the deck of the overwater villas. By the time we returned, the sunset was stunning. We spotted many baby sharks swimming in the lagoon at this hour. We’ll now return to the villa to get ready for dinner, which will be a romantic setup on the beach. The arrangement was visible right from our villa so it was easy to find it. It is a nice and simple setting. The plates are from Patra, a brand known for its elegant tableware. Hydration time. For the romantic dinner, we’ll be assisted by a private server for the entire evening. Tonight, the Ufaa dinner menu is different. Sweet potato soup, carpaccio yellowish tuna, tiger prawns, wagyu cube roll comes with an additional cost of $120 / person. The dessert selection tonight features lemon soufflé and chocolate lava cake. Cold signature towels. A candle was set inside a box. The overwater villas look beautiful from our table. The bread selection changes daily. Today, they served bread buns topped with different seeds. Pita bread is the same. Dinner begins with the same bread and butter ritual. For the starter we have an asparagus salad. White and green asparagus, beans, fennel, endive, edamame, hazelnuts and mustard vinaigrette. Rigatoni alla Carbonara. With guanciale, pecorino romano, egg yolk and black pepper. Even though the pasta was just a first course, it was amazing. One of the best carbonaras I’ve ever had. Smoked duck breast with orange puree, orange zest and beetroot jus. Baby carrots as a side dish with ginger puree, Persian feta. Roasted half range chicken. It comes with aioli sauce on the side and potato puree This carrot actually looks like a snail. I will have to eat it. The orange purée is silky smooth and creamy. Duck breast is topped with small fruits. The color of the meat is pink. Really nice one. Time for the chicken. It is actually half of a small chicken. It is soft. The potato purée was the best dish of the night. Forgot to put the sauce on top. We have a sweet tooth, so of course we had to try some desserts. First, a tropical coconut panna cotta with papaya sorbet. (A sorbet we haven’t seen anywhere else) And then, the classic chocolate lava cake served with pistachio ice cream. All the ingredients in this dish were so balanced. It has some papaya cubes. The dark chocolate inside has a strong flavor. The papaya ice cream was better than the pistachio but both were divine. Thanks for the food! Dinner was a truly satisfying experience, with just the right amount of food. Afterward, we decided to take a short walk to see the resort atmosphere at night. Reception area is very quiet. The library and working space is located upstairs. The room feels very pleasant. There are plenty of books, along with chairs and desks for working. Two MacBooks are available as well as a Canon printer. The library offers a selection of books, ranging from travel and wellness to novels and magazines. I think this one is a book in Japanese… hopefully I’m not wrong! Two armchairs and a white sofa. Coffee and Dilmah tea. It’s time to return to our room. See you tomorrow morning! Good morning everyone. It is a beautiful sunny day in the Maldives. The morning light shines from the other side of our overwater villa. It’s low tide now, so we can almost see the bottom of the lagoon. The contrast between the turquoise and deep blue is created by the steep reef drop, which goes down to about 90 meters. Guests can request in-villa breakfast for free every morning. The menu is almost the same as the buffet but we’ll head to the restaurant. Our boat villa staycation still feels unbelievable. Since there are no buggies or bicycles on the island, the pier is kept very narrow. Today we’re having breakfast inside the restaurant, as it’s quite windy out on the terrace. I’ll arrange a nice fruit platter made from papaya, watermelon. Add some yogurts. Iced americano has a great taste. It tastes more like a shaken espresso. Iced coconut latte. Ordered the acai bowl again. Fresh leaf salad. Omelette with everything. And extra cheese inside. Fruits and yogurts. Mini pizzas, banana bread and pain au chocolat. Out of all the flavors, the mango yogurt was our favorite. The mango on top is really sweet and has a tropical taste. Fresh young coconut. Before our departure, we stopped by the island’s boutique to pick up some souvenirs. COMO The Shop is their signature shop found in every COMO propery. Here we find branded items, wellness products, resort wear and accessories to take a piece of the COMO experience home. Full outfits. Bags in different shapes, colors and sizes. Beach essentials. Sunglasses. The women’s collection is mostly made up of dresses and cardigans. Simple white dresses. The price starts at around $80 / piece. Swimsuits in many colors. More bags with colorful patterns. They also have a selection of necklaces on display. These are really unique. Also a decorative gold object shaped like a dolphin. Bracelets and earrings. Kids items such as hats, water shoes, sunscreen and small accessories. Below the reception desk, there are many COMO Shambhala wellness products. They range from scented aromatherapy oils, different scrubs to shower gel, body lotions. Maldives books or magazines. Postcards. It is about time to check out from the resort. The return speedboat time is set based on flight schedules and other factors. COMO Cocoa Island is definitely a resort I’d love to return to if I have the chance. Many staff members came to see us off as we departed. Forgot to show you what I got from The Shop. It’s a body scrub. The full 2-night experience for two in a boat villa with half-board starts from $4,500 to $5,500, depending on the season. I hope you enjoyed this tour of the barefoot paradise, Cocoa Island. Our next stop is Six Senses, another world-famous resort in the Maldives. Six Senses Kanuhura is one of the most beautiful islands in the Maldives. We’ll take you through the villas, dining experiences, activities such as turtle safari and all facilities it has to offer. So stay tuned for the next video. Thanks for your watching!

  4. Actually, $1200 per night is pretty reasonable for a luxury resort. Can’t believe I said that🤣 but from other videos I’ve seen it’s normally 2 or 3 times that!

  5. Wow…wow…wow….when can I able to enjoy such a luxurious and premium lifestyle? Everything is in USD$.

  6. 凄い。上水や下水の処理はどうなっているんだろう…気になる。

  7. Why in gods name don’t you talk in your videos you would probably get so much more subscribers and your videos are incredible but not subscribing here sorry

  8. Been here it’s definitely not a 5 star resort… it’s 3 star at best the accommodation is mediocre and when Bad weather comes along it leaks like crazy.
