Solomon Islands is set to make a significant impact at the Osaka Kansai Japan Expo 2025, a premier international event focused on creating a sustainable future, when it celebrates its National Day on October 2 at the main Expo Village.
A joint government delegation to be led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade Hon. Peter Shanel Agovaka, the Minister of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration, Hon. Harry Kuma and the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Hon. Choylin Yim Douglas, will travel to Osaka to represent the Government at this special event.
The delegation departs Honiara on Monday September 29.
The Expo, which began on April 13 and ends on October 15, 2025, in Osaka, Japan, brings together representatives from 150 countries and 25 international organizations to share knowledge, ideas, and innovations.
The Osaka Kansai Japan Expo 2025 provides a platform for the Solomon Islands to explore new trade, investment, and tourism potentials.
The event’s theme, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” aligns with the country’s goals for sustainable development and growth.
The national day carries a significant diplomatic importance, national identity, economic trade and opportunity, all about cultural exchange, national pride and unity at the global level.
The National Day is the pinnacle of a country’s participation at the Expo—it is both a celebration and a strategic opportunity to showcase national culture, attract partners, and strengthen global ties.

The Solomon Islands theme reflects on the ‘Hapi Isles, Happy ocean, happy people’. It reflects on the role of the ocean in the lives of Solomon Islanders, the global concern about climate change, ocean conservation and sustainable use of marine resources for empowering the future Generation.
The Solomon Islands Pavilion at EXPO occupies 53 square meters of exhibition space, featuring a visual and virtual exhibition that showcases the country’s cultural diversity and tradable opportunities. The pavilion’s theme, “WELCOME TO THE HAPPY ISLES, THE SOLOMON ISLANDS,” will highlight the country’s cheerful destination and warm hospitality.

Virtual Engagement: The Expo facilitates business and engagement dialogues and seminars between local and overseas parties.
Solomon Islands National Day: The event takes place on October 2, 2025, with a delegation comprising 3 VIPS, 2 media officials, and 10 performers.
Pavilion Staff: A team of dedicated staff, including a Commissioner General, Pavilion Director, Country Manager, and Business Representative, ensure the smooth operation of the pavilion from the opening to closing of the event.
