Pacific League: Orix 10-5 Rakuten (28th, Kyocera Dome)
Rakuten infielder Luke Voit, starting as the starting line-up hitter and designated hitter, recorded his first four hit of the season. He hit a single to left field with two outs and runners on first and second in the fifth inning, giving him four hit in five At Bat and one RBI, his fifth multi-hit game since the September 9th game Seibu (Rakuten Mobile). “I think it went according to plan,” he reflected. Over the last five games, he’s eight hits in 21 At Bat hit, batting .381. “I think I’m learning every day, adjusting every day,” he said, looking at team materials and data. “All I can do is figure out how the other team will set up their game and how I can adjust to that. I want to keep doing that.” Voit has demonstrated his high adaptability, and he intends to continue producing hit in addition to the power he’s shown with 13 Home Run so far.
The team was confirmed to finish in 4th place or lower, missing out on advancing to the CS. When asked about his mindset heading into the remaining games, he said firmly, “I really want to play in Japanese baseball next year, so I hope I can finish without wasting a single at-bat.” He plans to continue producing results until his final at-bat and continue to make his presence known.
