Prince Hisahito arrived at the Osaka Expo for his first solo trip for official duty on September 24.
On September 25, his father Crown Prince Fumihito joined him as they went around expo pavilions of countries that they had a connection to.
The two first visited the Netherlands Pavilion where they interacted with an exhibit about renewable energy and other topics with a sphere that lights up as it gets closer to the exhibit.
The crown prince has been the honorary patron of the Japan-Netherlands Society since 2000.
Later, the father-son duo went to the commons pavilion where multiple regions are represented.
At the Bhutanese booth, they looked at a model of the cliffside monastery Taktshang Goemba, also known as the Tiger’s Nest.
Prince Hisahito’s first international visit was a family trip to Bhutan in 2019 when he was in his first year of junior high school.
He said that the exhibit made him feel nostalgic for the trip his family took six years ago.
By evening, the crown prince and prince went back to Tokyo.
