Many people have flocked to an annual festival in Nemuro City in the northern Japanese prefecture of Hokkaido to enjoy Pacific saury, an autumn delicacy in the country.

The two-day festival began on Saturday. Nemuro has the country’s largest landing of the fish, which is called sanma in Japan.

Visitors are able to buy chopsticks and a plate for 200 yen, or roughly 1.30 dollars, and they can eat as much grilled saury as they like.

People also have a chance to try to haul as much saury as they can from icy water and put them into a basket. One participant caught about 30 fish in one go.

An attendee said that the saury was large and fatty. He added that he wants to eat 10 grilled fish.
