Hokkaido Chuo Bus to end Shakotan and Muroran express routes on Nov 30

Hokkaido Chuo Bus (Hokkaido, Japan) will end operation of the Shakotan Express and Muroran Express highway bus routes on November 30.

With the driver shortage worsening, it has become difficult to maintain the current routes and frequencies. Timetable revisions are expected across routes from December 1.

The Shakotan Express, which connects the Sapporo Station area with Otaru Station and Shakotan Town, operates four round trips per day, while the Muroran Express, which connects Sapporo Station with Noboribetsu and Muroran (Kanko Ekimae), operates six round trips per day.

All Shakotan Express trips will be shifted to the Otaru Express (via Maruyama). Tickets already sold for the Muroran Express will be refunded with no handling fee.
