JA Solar has reaffirmed its commitment to the Japanese market by confirming the supply of its DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules for the Tomakomai Solar Power Plant in Hokkaido. Developed by Tomakomai Port Development Co., JAPEX, and the Development Bank of Japan, the project highlights the value of JA Solar’s advanced PV technology in meeting the region’s demanding climate conditions.

Located in Hokkaido’s Akeno Kita Industrial Park, the facility will feature a design capacity of 20.57 MW (DC) and a grid-connected output of 13 MW (AC). It is expected to generate about 23 million kWh of electricity annually, reducing CO₂ emissions by roughly 9,700 tonnes per year. With its coastal location, strong winds, heavy snowfall, and high humidity, the site requires durable systems capable of long-term reliable performance.

JA Solar’s DeepBlue 4.0 Pro n-type modules are specifically designed for such environments, having passed rigorous international certification tests for salt mist, ammonia, sand and dust, uneven snow load, and high wind resistance. Their high conversion efficiency, low degradation rates, and robust bifacial performance enable greater energy yields and reduced levelized cost of electricity across the project’s lifetime.

The Tomakomai project extends JA Solar’s proven track record in Japan.
