“Watanabe-dori Station” in Chuo Ward, Fukuoka This time, we will introduce “Tenjin Yatai Zonchan”, which opened in the new public offering of Fukuoka Yatai in 2025. It is open in front of Fukuoka Bivi in Watanabedori, and has been a popular yatai since its opening in April, attracting many customers. The owner arrives . Tenjin Yatai Zonchan is a yatai run by a married couple. After carrying in the prepared ingredients, tableware, and cooking utensils at the yatai’s installation site, the yatai is transported. After unloading the supplies, they park the car and head off to transport the yatai. The yatai is in perfect harmony and is on standby. This yatai, which has six gas stoves installed, may be the most of any yatai I have photographed so far . I had worked at a yatai in Nakasu for nearly 10 years, so I thought I would be able to handle it physically, but in reality, just changing the location and environment makes it difficult to work at a yatai. The distance the goods will be transported will also change, so we realized that things will be quite different from before. It was good that we opened in the spring, but I think it would have been difficult if we had opened in the middle of summer. With summer coming up, we need to get stronger. We are also preparing English menus for our overseas customers. People from overseas understand that yatai are a part of the culture of Japan and Fukuoka, so many tourists have started stopping by. In the past, most of our customers were from Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, but recently, people from various countries have started coming to Fukuoka. His wife moved to put away the handcart used to transport goods. She had also watched the video we had filmed before, and we started talking about the “Yatai Keiji” video. Yatai Keiji, which operates in an area without running water or sewage systems, is respected by many yatai owners . It is a famous Fukuoka yatai, and many people sympathize with the way he fetches water and cleans with a brush after closing, saying that it is not something that many people can do. It is a precious and happy moment for people to watch videos of him renovating his yatai himself, preparing and operating alone, and to be able to talk like this. It is amazing how Abe from Yatai Keiji remains calm when interacting with customers despite having such a hard job. We are ready to go and will be open soon. As soon as we open, customers from overseas start coming in one after another. Popular menu item: Hakata bite-sized gyoza, charcoal-grilled Hakata chicken He has given me a lot of advice, and I consider him my mentor, the chef of the Unzen food stall, has been teaching me about gyoza and other things. As the stall operates outdoors, it is difficult to maintain the condition of the gyoza wrappers , but the chef of Unzen apparently adjusts the water content of the gyoza wrappers himself according to the season and temperature, and said that it took him 10 years to figure out the answer. We offer a variety of dishes such as tendons, deep-fried tofu, wood ear mushroom tempura, pickled ginger tempura, and burdock tempura. Yakitori can be ordered with a choice of pork belly, chicken skin, heart, sausage, garlic sprouts, shiso leaves, or okra. Yaki ramen is divided into wet and dry, depending on the restaurant, but Zonochan’s yaki ramen is a dry type with a rich flavor. It is served with a topping of pork slices and lightly seared over a burner. Hakata Tonkotsu Yaki Ramen When the restaurant was a food stall in Nakasu, many customers from Korea came to the restaurant, so it seems that they naturally picked up the language. When you see the menu that other people are eating, you can’t help but want to order it. Hakata Tonkotsu Boiled Gyoza The customer ate the gyoza with great relish. I feel happy when I see customers who are looking forward to it. The cartilage stew that I was curious about has a refreshing taste with green onions and ponzu sauce , and the pork belly cartilage that is slowly stewed is surprisingly soft and an excellent menu that goes well with alcohol. “Tenjin Yatai Zonochan” has been bustling with customers since it opened, and is a notable stall with a wide selection of specialty dishes typical of Hakata food stalls. Their setup is very organized and the food looks delicious. Then I realize that they have to knock everything down at the end of the day and cart it back home. Then they have to clean everything and prepare the food for the next day. And of course they have to buy food and supplies for the cart and there must be a lot of book keeping to do for the business. I don't think I would last a week even if I could cook that well.
한국에서는 포장마차란 개념인데 아쉽게도 이런게 없어요 ㅠ 환경미화 차원에서 흔하게 볼수가 없어요 현재나이 60세가 넘었지만 젊을적엔 골목길 마다 있었는데 그때 추익이 아련하네요 잘보고있습니다 ㅎ
