I quit my job and went on a trip to Japan with my boyfriend. This video contains very subjective opinions! Please enjoy watching! I was so excited since it had been a long time since my last overseas trip. We quickly arrived in Osaka. From Kansai Airport, we took the express train to Nankai Namba Station. It takes about 50 minutes, but it’s so convenient because it’s direct. As soon as we got out of the station, I was shocked by the heat. (Unbelievable Osaka heat…) Wow, the vending machines make you want to drink all the time. (A huge celebrity on the street) It takes about 10 minutes from Nankai Namba Station to our hotel. The staff did the check-in in Korean and were really kind. The amenities were well prepared. The room was clean and even had slippers. We could charge our phones with USB right from the bed. The bathroom was clean and had a bidet. Right in front of the hotel, there was Mugen Ramen, which appeared on Halmyungsoo, so we went. It had just been renovated the day before, so it looked fresh. Since it was around 4 p.m., there weren’t many people. We ordered the main ramen, sirloin rice bowl, 3 dumplings, and 1 orange juice (total 3,210 yen). (Crazy visuals ㄷㄷ) Like my boyfriend said, it tasted bitter but kind of like junk food. The dumplings were so delicious! I still think about themㅎㅎ The ramen was good for the first few bites, but the smell was so strong it made me nauseousㅠㅠ Is this… the real ramen…?! They gave us free snacks as part of their reopening event. The restaurant was clean and the staff were kind, but because of the strong smell, I don’t think I’d go backㅠㅠ We also bought dessert from 7-Eleven. My boyfriend said it was Choo Sung-hoon’s pick, so we had to buy it. So how does Choo Sung-hoon’s bread taste…? Umaiii! Bread in Japan isn’t overly sweet in general. It was easy to eat. (My boyfriend’s terrible photos ruined my mood) He also kept writing Japanese wrong, which annoyed me. Osaka’s sun is harsh, but with the wind, evenings are really cool. Osaka summers are meant for nighttime strolling! Osaka night = cool. Babe, why aren’t you filming me? You’re too close. Well, you’re holding my hand. (Social distancing) I’m at that stage where I crave his attention. Now we’re heading to Dotonbori. We’re going to a sushi restaurant my boyfriend found after lots of research. (Nerd talking…) Uh… There’s a gorgeous Japanese-style building… And they put lots of shiny things on the trees. Why do you talk so badly? I give up… (Dotonbori arrival) So many people, I’m already exhausted. The sushi place we wanted was kind of in Dotonbori’s back alley. It took about 25 minutes to walk from our hotel. There was no waiting line, but the place was small and the chairs were uncomfortable. They required each person to order a drink, so I got orange juice. They served us mackerel stew we didn’t order, but the receipt showed it as tsukidashi (275 yen). The mackerel stew was decent. Japanese sushi really is on another level… We ordered two assorted sushi sets, but I kind of regretted not getting the tuna setㅠㅠ The scallop and salmon roe were more fishy than expected. Still, it’s authentic Japanese sushi. But I wouldn’t recommend it for people who want a quiet sushi experience. It’s popular with Koreans, so the staff could speak Korean and talked a lot to us..ㅎ I thought it was fun, but my boyfriend was uncomfortable. On the way back, we grabbed a smoothie from 7-Eleven. Even convenience store smoothies in Japan taste like café drinks. (Woke up ready to head to Namba Parks) I tripped badly while running across the crosswalk… My boyfriend asked why I didn’t use breakfall technique—unbelievable. It hurt so much, so I bought antiseptic and bandages at Namba Parks pharmacyㅠㅠ (Hurt, but still going to eat good food) Even at 2 p.m., there was about a 15-minute wait. The owner was super cuteㅋㅋ We got seated at a really unique spot! I was worried it might be uncomfortable, but the table was huge, so it was fine! Rice, tea, and salad are refillable once. The rice was in a big tub, slightly sticky—the kind I love. Soup came too! (The juiciness and color don’t even show properly on camera) (New best tonkatsu place discovered) I ordered tenderloin, he got sirloin, but honestly the tenderloin was next-level!! Couldn’t stop gasping in awe. This video contains very subjective opinions! Please enjoy watching! No need to worry, all the sauces were good, but the miso one was the star. One bite and the fat melted in my mouth—I thought it was Korean hanwoo beefㄷㄷ Good food = best mood. The soup tasted like bread. This place… even the soup is amazing. Everyone, please come here… My boyfriend said he’d buy me clothes, so we went shopping. I’ve never seen a Uniqlo this big beforeㄷㄷ Since it’s tax-free, it’s basically 10% off the price tags. They even had Uniqlo UT, only available in Japan. We bought 2 padded vests, a knit, and a bag… total 13,000 yen. We then went to a sushi place recommended by Tranquilo. It was crowded, but the place was big so we got seats right away. We didn’t know cups and plates were above us, so we just ordered drinksㅋㅋㅠㅠ My boyfriend says Genroku Sushi is the best among all the places we ate in Japan. On the way back, it was too hot, so we bought a McDonald’s raspberry smoothie (Japan-only). (Caught the “umaiii” disease in Japan) We also got yakisoba and takoyaki to-go from a shop near the hotel. (Showing off the Uniqlo clothes my boyfriend bought me) I really didn’t want to go out today, but my boyfriend begged me to go to the udon place. I didn’t even wash my face or brush my teeth, just went out. We arrived at 12:30, wrote our names, and waited 15 minutes. Cash only! The place was clean and the staff were super kind. He ordered tempura over udon. Now he’s fallen for tempura, after sushi. (My boyfriend’s silent mukbang) The noodles are super chewy. I ordered gyudon with mini udon. I don’t usually like udon, but the noodles were so chewy it was good. The gyudon was too bland though. I got hungry faster than expected, so we went to the conveyor-belt sushi place in front of the hotel. They don’t stack plates; they’re cleared away immediately. Ordering through the tablet was super convenient. When the sushi came, I was shocked at how bad it looked. The toppings were way too thin. Honestly, Korean sushi is way better than Kura Sushi. Genroku Sushi wins. We gave up on sushi and switched to dessert. I don’t usually like truffle, but this truffle egg soup was insanely good. Every 5 plates, you get 1 Every 5 plates, you get one gacha try, but we failed on the first attempt.. One more gacha chance… how about this time?! Finally, we won!!! There’s a slot where the prize comes out, but we couldn’t find it, so we mentioned it at checkout and got itㅋㅋㅠㅠ We ordered karaage, but the pieces were the size of a thumb. Won a Demon Slayer Kyohei badge! This time we went to a supermarket near the hotel to buy late-night snacks. If you come around 8–9 p.m., they sell things at huge discounts! FYI. You could cut food costs just by buying prepared dishes at the market. If Korean supermarkets did this, we wouldn’t order delivery… A pack of assorted sashimi is 598 yen—super cheap! (Japan prices are wild.) Assorted sushi is about 1,000 yen and better quality than Kura Sushi. They also sell household goods on the second floor—so many options. (Our last late-night snack in Japan…) Before our flight, we picked up takeout from a dim sum place on B1 of Kansai Airport Terminal 1. The line was long, but takeout moved so fast that the wait was short. Their signature is butaman (pork buns), but we kept it light with shrimp shumai.
