Yesterday during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 Broadcast, Playground Games officially announced Forza Horizon 6, the next chapter in its open-world arcade racing series that will finally take players to the highly-requested location of Japan. As of writing, the game is set to launch sometime in 2026 on “Xbox consoles first and PC” before likely heading to PlayStation. Playground offered some new information on the game recently, confirming it to have the franchise’s “biggest map yet” with Tokyo city also included.
Speaking to GamesRadar in a recent interview, Forza Horizon 6 art director Don Arceta offered some interesting bits of information about the game. During the interview, Arceta mentions that it will feature “our biggest map yet”, which is saying something considering the gargantuan sizes of the franchise’s open-worlds like England and Mexico.
Arceta spoke more about Japan’s map:
“This map that we’ve created for Japan, or Horizon’s version of Japan, is big, but also dense. There’s always something around the corner for you to discover and see. And also one area I’m really excited about that is also bigger, is our urban area, which is Tokyo city. That’s the biggest city that we’ve done in a Horizon game yet.”
So not only will Forza Horizon 6 feature the franchise’s largest map to date, it will also have Tokyo city as its biggest city yet. Of course, Tokyo city will simply make up one portion of the game’s enormous map as players will be able to explore rural areas and the countryside, amalgamating several iconic Japanese areas and locations into one cohesive game world. Judging by the reveal trailer, this will also include Mount Fuji – arguably the most beautiful mountain in the world, sorry Cape Town – and its surrounding natural landscapes.
Forza Horizon 6 will launch in 2026 for Xbox and PC, with a PlayStation port likely to follow post-launch.
