Update: Turns out the teaser likely leaked early on Instagram as Forza Horizon 6’s official reveal happened during the Xbox Showcase at Tokyo Game Show, as expected. Xbox noted Japan has been the location fans have been requesting most since the start of the series, and you can check out the official teaser for Forza Horizon 6 below.

Phil Spencer confirmed that we’ll be seeing a lot of new stuff from Xbox’s flagship series in 2026, including a new Forza Horizon game. We’ve now been shown a first look at that game, confirming its backdrop, as Xbox decided to just drop its first teaser for Forza Horizon 6 out of nowhere.

The reveal, which was shared via the official Forza Horizon Instagram account, confirms rumors that the series is headed to Japan for the first time, and that, as teased by Spencer, Forza Horizon 6 will launch in 2026. Nothing more than the release year was shared via the teaser, but it’s probably safe to assume that it will be released during the latter half of the year, probably close to the holidays in a little over a year from now.

Xbox Confirms When We’re Getting More Forza

Dropping a first look at the next Forza on social media feels a little random, but it’s likely a prelude to Xbox’s showcase at Tokyo Game Show later today. You’d have assumed it would have been saved for the showcase, but perhaps Xbox pushed the teaser out there and we’ll get a full trailer for the next Forza during the showcase itself.

It’s fitting that the first look has been saved for TGS, with it now confirmed that Forza Horizon 6 players will be racing around Japan. Rumors that Japan would be where the series was headed surfaced when a car company accidentally revealed what Forza devs were up to. The company shared on social media that someone from the Forza team had been sent to take photos of a Kei car, a vehicle that’s typically associated with Japan, that will presumably be included in Forza Horizon 6.

Forza Horizon has been a flagship series for Xbox for a very long time, but there will be a bigger focus on its next entry than there ever has been before now that it’s a cross-platform franchise. Forza Horizon 5 launched on PS5 earlier this year, and it sounds like the series has been performing incredibly well on Xbox’s rival platform, remaining among its best sellers for months.

The teaser for Forza Horizon 6 doesn’t make any mention of whether the next game in the series will launch on PS5 on the same date it arrives on Xbox Series X|S. Considering how well its predecessor has performed on PS5, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if PlayStation players get Forza Horizon 6 on the same day as their Xbox counterparts.
