Japanese interiors, with their focus on balance, restraint and natural beauty, continue to inspire homes far beyond Japan. The latest interpretation comes from Corner, a kitchen brand specialising in Japandi kitchens, whose new Kyoto collection channels the quiet elegance of Japanese design into a modern, sculptural kitchen.
“Kyoto is about simplicity that endures,” says Konstantin, co-founder of Corner. “It’s modest, timeless and designed to live with you for years, not just be admired.”

At its heart is a rounded island, a form increasingly embraced in contemporary interiors for its fluid, organic lines. Wrapped in Dekton, the worktop lends a tactile, stone-like presence, its veining flowing seamlessly around the curved silhouette.
“The stone pattern runs across the entire island, accentuating its rounded form and refined design,” adds Konstantin.

Cabinetry in dark oak veneer underscores the natural grain of the wood, while a stained finish deepens the tone for added warmth. Slim wooden finger-pull handles, drawn from traditional Japanese carpentry, remain discreet yet elevate the details with a note of authenticity.
Minimalist low-profile wooden handles, inspired by traditional Japanese carpentry, allow the fronts to remain neat and discreet. “The handles are subtle, but they add sophistication and authenticity to the design,” adds Julia, co-founder of Corner.
Storage is built seamlessly into the design to preserve clean lines, with concealed cupboards for smaller items, generous pull-outs, and appliances that blend quietly into the background.

“Japanese design philosophy centres on balance and mindful living,” explains Konstantin. “In the Kyoto kitchen collection, natural wood, stone, rounded forms, and integrated appliances come together to create a space of calm and simplicity.”
More than a kitchen, Kyoto reflects a wider movement towards rounded forms, natural materials and mindful living, which are shaping interiors in 2025.
