OSAKA — As Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai gets ready to close on Oct. 13, many companies want to hire people who worked at the event. These workers are popular because they have good language skills and know how to help customers well.

A job fair for Expo workers was held at ATC Hall in Osaka on Sept. 14 and 15. About 2,500 people came. Some 107 companies, like hotels and shops, set up booths to find new staff.


Pasona Inc., a big job agency, ran the event. Executive managing officer Kyoko Sanematsu said, “About 20,000 people are said to be working at this Expo. We think that the hospitality and experience gained from this national project will benefit their future careers.”


Asuka Nakamura, 20, a university student working at a pavilion, said, “I want to use my Expo experience to work in fields like the hotel or aviation industry.”


A 30-year-old German worker at the Spain Pavilion said in Japanese, “After the Expo, I want to work in international exchange and explore my potential while enhancing my career.”


The job fair also had a help desk for foreigners studying Japanese. Two workers from the Austria Pavilion, both from Spain, said they want to get better at Japanese and find a job in Japan.


A hotel company said, “We plan to launch multiple new ventures within our group and want to hire as many people as possible with high customer service and hospitality skills.”


A department store company said, “We hope to hire individuals who can maintain communication with affluent customers while displaying good hospitality.”


Universal Studios Japan also wants to hire more than 100 people who worked at the Expo. A company worker said, “The Expo work aligns well with theme park operations and is appealing. These individuals are truly industry-ready, so we intend to actively recruit them.”
