🌸 Nicchusen Cherry Blossoms
If you’re visiting in May, don’t miss this iconic spot, where a former railway line is now three kilometres of cherry trees on a walking and cycling path.
🌻 Sannokura Plateau
A ski resort in winter, Sannokura is awash in yellow in the summer months thanks to millions of sunflowers.
⛩️ Shingu Kumano Shrine
The vibrant yellow 800-year-old gingko tree here sits outside the ‘Nagatoko’, or ‘long floor’ worship hall, and has night illuminations in autumn.
🍶 Tour a sake brewery
There are several breweries throughout the old town, but if you’re looking for an atmospheric brewery with tasting and English support, we recommend Yamatogawa or Aizu Homare!

One of Japan’s three great ramen styles, there are over one hundred ramen restaurants in Kitakata 😱 Some restaurants even open for breakfast ramen!
