Tokyo vlog: Back in Japan after 4 Years – Episode 1

So, Japan didn’t exactly roll out the red carpet. Probably got kicked out. No, no, no. They kicked you out already. Do not even eat yet. Oh, but Japan redeems itself with this scallop. Look at that fine. What are you doing here? Eating. Ooh, that one I for meat. Very delicious. Only problem, allergies hit me harder than the wasabi. Those cherry blossoms make my nose blossom. There’s a gachon floor here. It has the largest gachon store in the world. Welcome to spring edition. She was telling me to press the exit button for the bus. We finally made it out the fishnet. It’s crazy up in there. Smell that Japanese air. It smells humid as well. It’s very humid. Not supposed to be cool today. No, it’s supposed to be cool though. It’s cool and humid here. So, I’ll take that. At least I won’t be cold. Okay, so we’re getting our Wi-Fi first, then our Pasmo and Jr. Pass. So, the ride from Hanada airport into the city takes about 40 minutes to an hour depending on which train you catch. 1 hour. Wow. In Vietnam, one hour already go another city. True, but Tokyo’s massive. Even just getting from the airport to the city center feels like a mini trip. H very clean. Very quiet. Not like back home. A cozy little room. Not bad. Brushes and slippers. Oh, we forgot to get slippers on the way in. Oh, wait. They have slippers right there. Oh, you can stay on your side. The whole thing is my All right. You take the in inside side. You have your favorite bedet. It feels so odd going to a restaurant, not knowing what to do, and then messing up. Apparently, we registered for two adults and two children. Children, come on. 91. So, because we made the mistake of putting two children in, we had to actually wait longer for that line. Otherwise, you probably would have gotten in a lot sooner. The wait was about an hour and a half, I would say. The food was pretty decent for the price. She paid about $31. $3,100 yen. Convert that how you would. The issue with the first day is that you’re tired. You’re on like 7 hours of sleep from two days worth. You’re cranky days. You’re hungry. And uh some people can’t eat plain food because they have a very weak stomach and cranky. The high altitude holds up all your poop and so you become constipated and cranky. Stop talking about yourself. You are cranky, too. It’s not all about you. Okay. Things aren’t always about you. Okay. I got to take a big old dump. She hasn’t showered for two full days. And I’m going to take a dump while she’s showering. Smell my dump. We’re finally back at night now. Bye-bye. All right, it’s about 8 a.m. in the morning now. We’re about to head to Sukiji Fish Market, first stop. Then we’re going to Sunshine Mall. [Music] Tokyo mornings start quiet. Just us, the subway, and about 30 minutes to Sukiji Fish Market. Are you sure they’re from front or back? I think that’s number one would be the back, wouldn’t it? So, it’ll come and it’s like 1, two, three. Yeah. Usually that’s the position of where the train cart is based off of the front. So quiet. No honk, no shout in Saigon. This time already traffic jam. Yeah, here it almost feels like a moving meditation. Everyone’s calm. No one’s even talking. Only sound train sound. Sh. Good for a nap. Don’t sleep yet. We’ve got fresh scallops waiting. Okay. Okay. For a scallop, I stay awake. [Music] We almost missed our stop. Lisa was looking at me and I thought she was trying to invite me to sit down on this seat. She was telling me to press the exit button for the bus. Well, we made it in time, though. They were about to drive off, too. Sukijichi Fish Market is probably the most well-known fish market in all of Japan. If you’re a first- timer here in Japan, you have to go here. They have they have some of the best food that you’ll try during your trip here. The last time we went here, there was so many different types of food that we tried. Um, what is it? We try Wagu. You tried Wagu. I tried Wagu. The tuna steak. Tuna steak. The strawberry moji. Yeah, the I never got to try the strawberry mochi, so we’re looking to try it this time around. Ooh. Yeah. Oyster was pretty good. But I can’t wait for the Mount Fuji. Oyster. Myama. Yeah. Miaima. Miaima. Oh, wait. That’s not Mount Fuji. That’s near Hiroshima. Oops. There’s already a line in that area right over there. Crazy. The amount of people. The thing about the Sukiji fish market is that you have to arrive here pretty early or else it’ll start getting packed. Expect to spend two, three, even four hours around here. [Music] Good. So good that you’re speechless. That was 700. $7. I don’t know if this juice is because of the sauce that you put in or it’s naturally from the oyster, but you could taste the saltiness from it. Kind of like it was just caught from the ocean. Time for the oonie. Yeah. Very creamy and soft. It just melts in your mouth. Sweet. I’ve never had uni before. Go ahead. Oh, wow. It’s creamy. Very creamy. Is it sweet? Mhm. All right. So, this is tamago on a stick. Basically, it’s a fluffy Japanese omelette, but you eat it like street food. Amoreet on a stick. In Vietnam, we just eat with rice. No need stick. True, but this one’s different. Sweet, savory, and a little bouncy. And mix in dashi, soy sauce, even sugar. Sweet egg. H look funny, but maybe tasty. I want try. Okay. Okay. Next time I buy, we eat together. But still, I’m on stick. So, this guy right there, the guy back there, we met him a few years back and he was yelling at a tourist. Clips right here. No, no, no, no, no. Yeah. So, make sure you read all the instructions that they tell you to. All right. Now, this was wild. They actually charred the scallops right in front of me. And not just any scallop. Probably the biggest scallop I’ve ever eaten. Wow. In Vietnam, scallop smell like coin. This one like stick already. Smoky on the outside. Still juicy inside. Honestly, one of the best bites of the day. M. That one I trust. Big scallop. Good scallop. Too hot. Too hot. Really big though. What’s it taste like? A little salty. A little bit chewy though. It’s on the chewy side. Think they cooked it too long. It is too heated up. Now it’s my turn to try the scallop. Holy. Look at this pink part right here. Let it drip. This looks insane. Are you in there? Are you from Tokyo? From Texas. Yeah. Are you really? Yeah, we’re from Dallas. Oh my goodness. Well, we used to live there. Ah, Houston, folks. What are you doing here? Eating. Y’all like oysters, huh? Oh, yeah. Love oysters. You should get it. This is scallops. Scallops. Yeah, you scallops. I can’t wait to put that in my mouth. Have fun. Thank you. All right. Thank you. You guys, too. Take care. That scallop that especially that pink portion was so soft, nice, sweet, soft, savory, just really melted in your mouth. I took a huge chunk of that bite. Then after you finish everything, you got to slurp what’s left of the soup. Oh yeah, you can taste the charred flavor. Little saltiness in there. It’s very rich. Rich and salty. You like bail? That was good. Let’s see what’s next. Um, are they the same? Yeah, same same strawberry. Which one? Okay. Finally got the strawberry matcha. Strawberry matcha mochi. There’s no bitter taste within the mochi. So that’s a very good sign already. And there’s a filling too to it. [Music] [Music] We got kicked out right about here. Should be good. We got kicked out from our spot, but found a new spot. This is the one thing I did not get to try four years ago when we last came here. And um frankly, they overhyped it a little bit. I don’t think it’s Oh, I didn’t hype it up. Oh, my grandma overhyped it up. I think it’s worth a try though if you’re going to be here in Japan here at Piji. Give it a try. Yeah, I want to go fast. I want I want what I want. I want what I want. But in my opinion, I feel like you can’t really go wrong here on TV, can you? [Applause] Undeniably peerless in its taste. I got a bag. So after Sukiji, the next stop was Sunshine City Mall in Iikuro. It’s not just a mall. It’s like a whole city inside the inside mall. You joking or what? No, really. There’s shopping, restaurants, even an aquarium on the rooftop. Hey, what aquarium in mall? In Vietnam, we only have fish tank and restaurant. Yeah. And not just that, they’ve got planetarium and observation deck and one of the biggest Pokemon centers in Japan. Pokemon also. Wow. This more like Disneyland already. Exactly. That’s why people come here. Families, tourists, anime fans. It’s kind of like a one-stop spot for everything. Okay. Okay. But still for me, today there seems to be some type of anime event. I don’t know what it is, but this mall, it attracts a lot of anime fans and cosplayers alike. So, if you’re into anime, come check out this mall. There’s a gachon floor here, and that’s what makes this place so special. It has the largest gachon store in the world. This place is insanely crowded. See all these people around here. It doesn’t boast world’s biggest gach for no reason. right here behind me. This whole section is just Pokemon gap. So what you what you got? Oh, I think this only has four, right? Yeah, I think only four. Is that Did you want them? I didn’t I didn’t mind any of them. I like all of them. No, no, no. This is the best one right now. Oh, hell no. What do you mean? She’s so pretty though. [Music] Where’s the one piece? I’m looking for the one piece. Oh, Pichu. That’s cute. I love you want the jiggly pasta. All right. So, I think I found what I want. It’s this one right here. They look cute. I’m going to have them hang on my wires. I got the freaking girl. No Buddha. Oh, you want to get more? Another one. You have more and more money? Yeah. Let’s try one more time. I want So, dori or gojo sensei? Let’s go. Oh, yeah. We got Gojo sensei. Let’s go. They’re going to be all climbing on my wires. Panda one more. All right, let’s do it. I get the panda. Panda. Panda. Panda. Panda. Okay, I’ll take him, too. I forgot his name, though. He doesn’t want that girl. This guy. I already I already have her. I don’t want her anymore. There was a person at every single corner that you walked. Couldn’t even swing your hands without touching somebody. And that space was so cramped up and tight. But she had a lot of fun buying all her toys. How many toys did you get in all? Four. Oh, not bad. I got three one area. But not bad. Quite a haul. All right, let’s see what’s next. So, for dinner, we’re having this Japanese curry. It’s kind of in a hole in a wall. So, we ordered outside in this vending machine. I think the vending machine model is the most convenient way of ordering for everybody because you don’t really need to understand the language in order to order. Yeah, you just click a few buttons. The only issue is when it doesn’t have English on it. No understand in Spanish. You just mix it. We’re doing this with the rice. Rice and sauce only. There’s a slight kick to it. Back at home, there was a restaurant called I don’t remember what it’s called, but it was within me wall, the Japanese market. Really? The Indian food, but the the pork right there, they’re Indian. The Indian food is good. Like legit. So, it reminds me of like Indian food. This place is really I like it. I give a solid eight. I’ve been looking for a curry like this for a while now. So, we just added some rice krispies with pickle pickled vegetable. This is really good though. We might have to go here again. No, we have to try a lot of variety. That was so good. I can still feel a little fire. Just a little kick in my mouth. Hopefully this clears up my nostrils. I have some allergies right now going on. Those cherry blossoms make my nose blossom. That’s day one and two in Japan. But honestly, this is just a warm warm up. You already eat whole market. Still want more? Yeah. Because tomorrow gets even crazier. I found this little shop that sells cream puffs, but with a magical twist. Magical. You mean Mickey Mouse? Nope. Think something straight out of a Studio Giblly movie. And that’s not all. Juicy beef cooked right in front of us. The chaos of Shabuya Crossing and even handmade noodles like you’ve never seen before. Wow. Okay. Okay. I want to watch next time. Trust me, you will.
