This time, I’m heading back to Japan from Korea on the PanStar Cruise! Enjoy the meals on board and some useful tips I discovered after a round trip. My very first solo trip to Korea is finally coming to an end.
It’s time to return to Japan. Since I booked a tour, I’ll also be taking the PanStar Cruise back. The boarding procedures went smoothly. This time, I also got the PanStar Cruise app guide. With a reservation, you even get one free hot coffee in the VIP lounge! That’s a great deal. And apparently, you can also use the sauna if you book in advance. I thought the VIP lounge and sauna were only for suite passengers, so this is a pleasant surprise. Now I’m even more excited about the return voyage. So, just like the departure, I’ll be boarding the ship. There was also a welcome drink again this time. On the way back, it’s a red non-alcoholic drink. I downed it in one go with energy. And this time, they even gave us snacks. The cabin is the same as on the way there—an inside room to save money. But again, there were so few passengers that I had it all to myself! It seems there are even fewer passengers on the return trip. Being able to have a whole room to myself is truly a blessing. As departure time approached, I headed to the lobby. But there were hardly any people around. Maybe not many people travel from Korea to Japan…? While waiting, I saw a staff member working out. And then a cat even showed up to see us off. Such a peaceful scene. The PanStar Cruise departed Busan right on schedule. Unlike the outbound trip when I was full of anxiety, I feel a bit more confident going home. Once the cruise set sail, more and more people gradually gathered on the rooftop. Time to say goodbye to the Busan Harbor Bridge. Goodbye, Busan! It was a short time, but thank you for the wonderful memories. Back inside, let’s head to the VIP lounge I was looking forward to! The free coffee service is only available on the day of departure. When I tried to sit down, I noticed “Reserved” signs on the tables. Where should I sit…? The window seats were already full… tears. During the day, the curtains in the VIP room are open, giving a full view of the sea. I could spend the whole voyage here. You can choose between hot or iced coffee. For a moment, I felt like a suite room passenger. The cleaning robot was hard at work again today. So cute. Since there were fewer passengers today, dinner was served in just one seating. Until then, I spent some free time. On board, there are paid relaxation facilities like a spa and therapy rooms. It’s a great way to make use of your time on the ship. And then, suddenly, a mysterious loud noise filled the air… Turns out, it was an exercise session. Since I didn’t have the courage to join, I decided to check out the unmanned store instead. While ship stores usually close at night, this one is open 24 hours. I’m indecisive and take forever when shopping, so this service is really helpful. Speaking of Korea, Lotte is a must, right? So I tried some local Lotte ice cream. There was even a mysterious zero-calorie ice cream, but I chickened out and went with chocolate instead. I just really wanted a classic chocolate ice cream. Once you get used to the self-checkout, it’s easy. Actually, it’s kind of fun. At 1,500 won, it’s a bit cheaper than in Japan? And yes, it even printed a receipt, haha. People of Korea, can you confirm—this is indeed Lotte ice cream, right? It was before dinner, but I couldn’t resist a snack. Wow!! It looks so delicious!! I highly recommend this—so good! Each table had a variety of board games. Is this Go? How do you even play…? Since I didn’t know the rules, I just kept playing Pop-Up Pirate. When I went outside, the sun was about to set. With no one else around, I had the whole view to myself. As always, the wind was extremely strong. But I kind of liked that. Time passed, and it was dinner time. Would the menu be different on the return trip? Stir-fried meat and vegetables, grilled chicken. Huh? Yakisoba!? And wow, spare ribs too! I’m glad the menu is different from the outbound trip. On the way to Korea, there were mostly Korean dishes. This time, it feels like Japanese and Western food are the focus. Breakfast and dinner buffets are included in the ferry fare—such a good deal! Cheese and ham are usually expensive, but here it’s all-you-can-eat. And today’s soup was tonkotsu ramen! Even the vegetables and fruits, which have been pricey lately, were all-you-can-eat. And they had my favorites—watermelon and melon! Is this miso soup? Next to it, Korean oden. So here’s tonight’s dinner! Since there were more familiar Japanese dishes, I personally preferred the return menu. I’m not sure what was inside, but the spring rolls were delicious. But this shrimp cutlet sandwich was absolutely amazing! Crispy, freshly fried, and hot—so good! And I could finally enjoy oden, which I couldn’t eat in Korea, here on the ferry. It was such a satisfying dinner! The onboard show was a live classical guitar concert. The vibe was completely different compared to the outbound trip. Maybe both the dinner and the concert were tailored more for Japanese passengers this time. It’s amazing that they bring in different performers for every departure. When I checked the map, I saw we were already in Japanese waters! The cruise was about to pass under the Kanmon Bridge. Ah, Japan! That’s the Ferris wheel at Karato Market. It’s still open and all lit up. Recently, the Matsuyama–Kokura ferry route was discontinued, so I thought no ships passed through the Kanmon Strait anymore. That’s why I’m so glad I got to see this view again. Even on the same ferry, the scenery and atmosphere felt completely different between the outbound and return. I decided to check out the sauna I reserved. When I showed my reservation number at the front desk, they said, “Anyone can enter anytime.” So maybe I didn’t even need a reservation. The sauna had lotion, emulsion, and hair dryers available. There was also a large public bath, which I thought was great, but… The bath water was an unbelievable 44°C—way too hot! In the end, I skipped the bath and just took a shower. Tonight, I’ll sleep on the top bunk. It’s fun to see the view from a different angle. The capsule bed itself isn’t much different from those in Japan. A futon, a pillow, a light, and an outlet—very simple. There’s no official lights-out time; you just turn off the lights yourself. That’s it for tonight. Good night… Good morning, everyone. The ferry has entered the Seto Inland Sea and is sailing off the coast of Kobe. We’ll dock in about one to two hours. The breakfast menu was also a little different from the outbound trip. Rice was Korea’s classic black rice. Stir-fried pork with kimchi, bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages, fried potatoes, and salmon! The breakfast had both familiar items and dishes with a Korean touch. It’s fun that the menus change between outbound and return. There was also a great selection of bread, which made it hard to choose. The soup was… beef bone soup? So breakfast turned out to be a hearty, healthy meal! I was glad they had vegetables and fruits available. I could see the Osaka Aquarium! We were back in Osaka! The 4-day, 3-night PanStar Cruise tour went by faster than I expected. From the next video, I’ll return to traveling within Japan. When I go abroad next time, I’d like to go solo again. Where should I go next…? Thank you for watching until the end!
