Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel will offer “Autumn Harvest Japanese Afternoon Tea — Enjoying the Colors of Fall with Japanese Tea,” featuring Japanese teas from Kyoto’s Ippodo Tea Co., from September 1 through November 30.

The welcome tea is Ippodo Tea Co.’s premium hojicha, served with an amuse-bouche of “petit terrine of eel and ginkgo nut.” The sweets and savories include: “Bancha Nama Chocolate,” pairing sweet chocolate with bancha; “Sencha Sweet Bean Paste Wrapped in Mochi (Gyūhi),” white bean paste kneaded with sencha and wrapped in soft rice mochi; “Amberjack Tea Shabu × Sencha ‘Hōsen’,” lightly shabu-shabu poached amberjack in a sencha-based dashi, served with a jelly of tea leaves and bonito broth; “Burdock and Kelp Agar Terrine × Gyokuro ‘Rinpō’,” umami-rich burdock and kombu sealed in delicate kanten; “Eggplant and Meat Miso Cannelloni-style × Kuki Hōjicha,” grilled eggplant wrapped around meat miso and formed into rolls; and “Apple Maple Pie × Domestic Black Tea,” crispy pastry baked with maple-flavored almond cream and cinnamon-scented apples.

The seasonal specialty is “Sweet Potato and Hojicha Mont Blanc × Domestic Black Tea,” which envelops mellow mascarpone cream and rich, sweet sweet-potato cream in hojicha Mont Blanc cream.

Drinks include a free-flow selection of 20 teas. The lineup features five from Ippodo Tea Co.: sencha “Hōsen,” gyokuro “Rinpō,” kuki hojicha (roasted stem tea), domestic black tea, and hojicha latte.
