Japanese police have served a fresh arrest warrant on suspected stalking for a South Korean man under arrest in the killing of a South Korean woman in Tokyo early this month.
Investigative sources say police in Tokyo executed the new warrant for the 30-year-old suspect on Monday.
He had been arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing his former girlfriend in Setagaya Ward on September 1.
The sources say the man waited for the 40-year-old woman for several hours near the attack site.
They also say he is suspected of repeatedly trespassing in the apartment building where she lived from August to September 1, and lingering outside her room.
Police say the two appear to have started dating in April after they became acquainted through a Japanese-language study app.
The woman visited a police box in Tokyo in August. She reportedly told officers that the man became violent when she suggested that they break up.
