Osaka World Expo 2025 Walking Tour!
Hi everyone, this is Taste NC with Kenabza and I’m here at Umeshima station about to check out the Osaka Expo. So come and join me as we explore the different exhibits and let’s have a wonderful time. So let’s go. So, here’s Yumishima station and here’s the expo. [Music] Oh, so there’s the expo entrance. [Music] So, there are a lot of different pavilions here at the expo. And the only thing is that you had to reserve, make a reservation for some of them. And I was actually a bit late when it came to reserving because when I did try uh the reservations were pretty full. They were pretty much sold out and they were closed. And here’s the official expo store. So, we’re probably going to check that out later with the gift shops and stuff. So, we’ll go there later. In the meantime, let’s go over here. I don’t have a map of the expo. And maybe I can pull one up online. But for now, let’s just do some walking and let’s see what’s going on in the different uh different sections. So, it’s a Sunday afternoon. And there are a lot of people since it’s the weekend. And fortunately, it’s cloudy, so there’s no sun beating down on everyone. And also, there’s really not much humidity. And there is a breeze, which is really nice. Oh, information center. Let’s see if they have a map. [Music] Hi Arato. [Music] How would you like to pay? 2008. Uh uh I’ll pay with card. Okay. No exchange, please. Okay. Where are you from? Uh oh. Nice. museum or Starbucks. Okay. I’ve been to the Starbucks in Seattle. Oh, that the first Starbucks in Seattle. Great. Okay. So, here’s the official map. It was like four bucks. Oh, no. 200 yen. Um, that’s like a 150. So, at least we have an English map. So, let’s use it. Here’s looks like the Panasonic Pavilion here. It actually looks doing the bottle challenge. That’s funny. Even here in Japan, the Oops. The land of Nommo Pavilion. It’s kind of a bummer that you have to have a reservation to pretty much enter the pavilions. So, if you’re if you didn’t reserve, then you can’t really enter. So, at least maybe you could just check out the outdoors outdoor section. So, so that’s a pretty cool structure in front of us. this wooden structure here. Oh, wow. This is pretty cool. [Music] Nice. Cool. There’s a tiny robot. [Music] Japan. pavilion. So they have food trucks here for takyaki. Yum. Chicken wrap. Chicken wrap made with premium awaji chicken from Kobe. Wow. So, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to enter any of the pavilions because I don’t have any reservations. And pretty much when you approach the pavilions, all of them are closed for that particular time slot, and it’s kind of hard to figure out if they’ll still have openings uh for the next time slot. So, I guess while I’m here, I guess I’m just going to walk around and enjoy the architecture uh from the outside. But yeah, kind of a bummer. I I am unable to see the inside of the pavilions, but um nevertheless, it’s still pretty cool just walking out here and experiencing this expo because it’s this is something I believe doesn’t happen every year. And so, yeah, glad that I’m able to uh just be here and roam around and check it out. So, according to Google, it says the world expose, including the one in Osaka, are held every 5 years. The current Osaka Expo scheduled for April 13 to October 13, 2025 is the second time Osaka has hosted the event and the sixth time Japan has hosted it. The previous world expo was in Dubai in 2020 delayed to 2021 and the next one after Osaka will be held in 2030. Wow. So every 5 years the world expo happens and this year happens to be in Osaka. Going to check out the other side. This is a really cool structure. Wow. And yeah, this place is humongous. It’s basically a big giant circle with a different pavilions surrounding it. What is this? United Arab Emirates pavilion. Wow. Yeah. Wow. This is cool. Look at this. They basically used I don’t know what kind of wood this is, but they wrap the metal rings around to keep it keep the columns intact. I’m cut. There’s some sort of a show, video show. [Music] So, it looks like each pavilion has their own gift shop. And here’s one of them. And let’s see if we can check out another pavilion that does not have a wait time or reservations needed. Oh, it’s cool. How do people uh get up there? Maybe we’ll find out. Canada pavilion to Canada. Oh, we got the Mounties. No reservations needed, but wait time is 90 to 120 minutes. Holy moly, that’s that’s long. I don’t know if I Here’s the Portugal pavilion. Let’s Gosh, the lines are long, though. Holy moly. I know what. Let’s go up the escalators and let’s go up the this wooden bridge. Oh, wow. Look at the Portugal pavilion. It’s their ropes. Wow. That’s That’s a cool design. Okay, let’s go up there. Let’s see the view from from the top. Wow, look at that. Holy moly. It goes around. No way. Wow. How in the world? How did they build this? [Music] Wow. Look at this. So, we were just down there and look at all the different pavilions. This place is huge. Well, this place is an island, but it’s incredible that they they built all this. I’m not sure if they built it just for the expo or if it’s been here, but look at the beautiful flowers as well. Okay, let’s see if we can go up. [Music] Wow. This is the view from up here. So, it looks like they’re doing having some sort of a show. And then you can see the water right there. And again, this is an actual island. Okay, I don’t think I’m going to walk all around this place because that’s going to take a long time. So, I’m going to go back down, check out at least the outside portions of the different pavilions, and if I can go in one of them, that would be great. Ah, nice to see the kids just enjoying it. [Music] Wow, look at this. Turk Menistan. The line to go in looks pretty long though, so I’m not sure if I’ll uh be able to go in. At least it looks nice outside with the TV screen and the design. Nordic circle. Oh, the Nordic countries like Norway, Sweden, Finland, Malta. Oo, wow. That’s I mean even if I’m unable to go in, I’m still enjoying the the architecture from the outside. So I’m I’m not disappointed. Now what is this? That’s pretty cool. You can see people walking around. Oh, Czech pavilion. Okay. Chia. Yeah. Wow. That’s actually pretty cool design. Holy moly. Look at that. Expo 2025 photo op. But wow, look at that. Unbelievable. Oh, there must be some sort of a light show or something. This is the Angola Pavilion. So, apparently the line for the Great Britain one is 2 hours. So, thank you, but I will have to pass. Wow. I am enjoying walking around and just seeing the different architecture from the outside though. So, so I’m totally fine with that. So, they have food trucks here. Let’s see what they have. Kag. They have coffee latte. There’s the escalators going up again. Ooh, gelato. Six flavors. [Music] Choco banana. Wow. Okay. Mango smoothie. Holy moly. What is that? It’s like a paperiermâché. Looks like a paperiermâché design. Oh, it’s basically a waiting area. That’s really neat, though. Oh, yeah. It’s It’s cloth, but from a distance, it looks like a paperier-mâché. Okay, I just realized that this area is uh an area for toilets. And so they have different stalls over there, private stalls actually, um where you can close the door. And pretty much the toilets are the fancy ones with the buttons and the lights. So this is Bulgaria here. And that that makes a lot of sense. Singapore. I was literally just there yesterday. Man, the line for Singapore is long. [Music] 30 minutes wait time. In the evening, they have a drone show. Starts daily at 8:57 p.m. Oh man, that would be cool. Wow. That would be cool to see. But that’s about three and a half or so hours from now. It’s pretty cool to see Singapore on one side and Italy on the other. [Music] Two countries that I’ve been to in the past. Singapore literally just yesterday and Italy in the fall of 2023. Oh, wow. So, they’re letting a car through. Oh, there it is. Any more? Oh, one more. [Music] I haven’t open. [Music] [Music] Oh, wow. Now we can cross. That was pretty cool. That was pretty interesting. Oh, there’s like a dignitary there. I don’t know who that is. Okay, this is cool. Bandai Namco Pavilion. Gundam Next Future Pavilion. Okay. I don’t know if this requires a reservation. Most likely. Oh, yeah. Reservation for today opens at full full 7:30 p.m. openings, but I’m going to be gone by then. Darn. Oh well. At least there’s the big giant Gundam. That’s so cool. Okay, I’m going to try and check out the official expo store and just queuing up here on the line. It’s actually a lot of people, so we’ll see how long the wait time is when it comes to purchasing items. But I’m going to stop by here before I head out. Okay, this place is mayhem. Just getting a couple of magnets. There you go. Stuffed toy. How much is one? This is the weird weird looking stuffed toy or character. Okay, I’m just trying to find something super simple like a stuffed toy, but that lady took the last one, so hopefully I can find another one. Okay, I escaped the mayhem of the official store and I’m headed back to Osaka proper, at least a city center. Got my stuff. So, this is this is a big bag. I should have um should have gotten a smaller one. Darn. Oh well, this is pretty cool bag. Now, what is this? Look at that. Blue Ocean Dome. That’s really cool. [Music] [Music] Australia. Right behind me was Indonesia. 20 minute wait for that. Let’s check out the Spain pavilion. That’s pretty grand. My gosh. You go up this walkway. Wow, Thailand’s pavilion looks pretty cool. They have elephants. That’s a That’s actually a really cool design because it’s only half of a half of a roof. And then with the reflections, it looks like it’s an entire entire roof, but that’s just glass over there. It’s It’s just a reflection. So that’s that’s pretty inventive. Oh, yeah. Turkey. Nice. [Music] This is traditional Japanese music. [Music] [Applause] This is Korea. That is cool. [Music] Oh, wow. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Cool. [Music] [Applause] You have France USA pavilion. and the Philippines right next to each other. France, USA, and the Philippines. So, this one’s the Philippines. From my understanding, this is handwoven. And it’s crazy. [Music] Wow, the line for the USA. Holy moly, long. Maybe they’ll show Seattle. We’ll see. [Music] Okay, that’s a wrap here at the Osaka Expo. Glad to check it out. Very first world expo that I’ve ever been to and grateful for the opportunity and pretty exhausted because it’s a very very long walk around the island to check out the different pavilions. And even though I didn’t get a chance to go to um a lot of the pavilions, at least the inside part of it, I really enjoyed the architecture and the different countries represented. So with that, this is Taste and See with Ken Sabaza, and I’m looking forward to sharing the next adventure with all of you. Take care and happy travels. Heat. Heat. [Music]
