Today’s travel and camping destination is Andong, Gyeongbuk. We begin at Wolyeonggyo Bridge, which means “a beautiful landscape of moonlight reflecting on the lake.” This is Andong’s representative natural attraction, commemorating a noble love. We couldn’t help but stop by the beautiful scenery on our way to our destination. Now, we’re headed to a place where we can relax for the day. This is also a filming location for the Korean drama “Mr. Sunshine.” Wow… the cliffs and pavilions create a landscape that evokes the beauty of Korea. Shall we take a look around this quiet place where we can spend a short time with OkHee? This is Gosanjeong, a pavilion built by Toegye Yi Hwang, the figure featured on the South Korean 1,000 won bill, and his disciple Geum Nansu. It is said that hundreds of poems were written at Gosanjeong, thanks to its beautiful scenery. This place would calm anyone with a complicated mind. I need to get set up quickly and enjoy this view. It’s mid-September, but the daytime heat still lingers. My truck, reminiscent of a traditional Korean house, seems to fit in well with the scenery here. I wonder when the truck’s tailgate step will be fixed. 😅 It looks like a Korean painting is captured through the truck window. To comfortably enjoy the scenery, we should hurry up and finish preparing the truck’s interior, right? What is OkHee chewing on like that? The name of my truck, “YeonYooJae,” means a house where fate flows. I wanted to create a space where we could draw together. It’s mostly used for camping now, but anything is fine. It’s a joy to be able to easily create my own home in the natural environment I love. The high mountain peak and white herons evoke a tranquil landscape painting. Time always flies in a place where you can just sit still. Since I’m in Andong, I have to try Andong Jjimdak(Braised Chicken), the famous local dish. OkHee seems to be happy just being outside with me. Once the sweet and salty sauce boils, add the vegetables and glass noodles and steam until tender. As it gets dark, the bugs start to swarm. I serve food to hungry OkHee before I do. -Come this way. Training is training, but OkHee’s waiting is so cute. It’s my mealtime now. Jjimdak(Braised Chicken) is always delicious. I’d also enjoy a cold beer with it. I like a lot of songs, but I prefer old pop songs. I especially like the Eagles’ “Hotel California.” I’m also curious about my subscribers’ favorite songs. It’s been two years since I started documenting my art travels in a calendar,
and now the third calendar is coming out. This calendar is designed with the concept of submitting a calendar with my subscribers. Each month, you will select an artwork from among my drawings. We’re planning to create a calendar by selecting a picture representing each month through a survey. I’ll post a survey link on the community soon, so subscribers, please pick your favorite picture☺️ It’s getting quite chilly in the evenings now, so I’ll close the door and get ready for bed. If I turn on the electric blanket, I’ll be in for a good night’s sleep. OkHee’s energy doesn’t wane even late at night😂 This is how a day goes by in the cabin. A mysterious morning dawned, reminiscent of a landscape from an oriental painting. While I was absorbed in the beauty of the bustling morning scenery, dawn had already broken. I’m going to take a walk with OkHee and look around. These jujubes will soon turn reddish-brown, too. OkHee and I cross the bridge we saw from the truck. I wonder if something good will happen today. I can even see a rainbow in the distance. OkHee, who is impatient, is eating standing up again. There’s a place called Maenggae Village nearby with beautiful buckwheat fields. I’m going to stop by for a bit. The reason I wanted to visit this place even more was because of this tractor service. It’s not a long ride, but riding a tractor across the river seemed fun and romantic. OkHee, who likes people, seems really excited. We’ll arrive at Maenggae Village in about 7 minutes by tractor. Thanks to the snacks and drinks you prepared, I had breakfast. I’ll share the fruit with OkHee. This place is also famous for its brewery. Now it’s time to admire the buckwheat fields, which look like they’ve been covered in white snow. Behind, the buckwheat fields stretch far and wide. It’s like a small fairytale village. By the way, why didn’t anyone tell me my dress was unzipped? 😅 The writer I was with graciously took a picture for me. Thank you for the precious photos. It was a short but enjoyable time. I’m thinking about what scenery to draw while I cool off a bit. Actually, I came here with the intention of drawing Maenggae Village, but the scenery I’m currently staying at is so beautiful that I decided to draw the scenery at Gosanjeong. Actually, I was a huge homebody. When I was a dancer, I traveled all over the country, so I ended up staying home on my days off. Now, I feel like I travel even more, and I realize how many beautiful places there are. Feeling like time flies means you have a passion for life, right? It seems like only yesterday I was sad to see the cherry blossoms fall. But the season returns, so I should enjoy this time to the fullest.
