Riding Japan’s Dream Relier Overnight Bus | Osaka → Tokyo

I want to experience Akihabara’s otaku culture! So, I’m taking a night bus to Tokyo! The bus stop is right next to JR Osaka Station!
So convenient. I was worried about buying on the day,
so I got my ticket online the day before. Popular routes fill up quickly,
so booking in advance is a must. Before boarding, I headed to the convenience store
for some night snacks. The convenience store is right next to the ticket counter.
Super convenient! Lately, I’ve been into egg sandwiches. Gentle on a man in his 40s’ stomach—
that’s the charm of egg sandwiches. Haha The bus departs at 11:00 PM. It’ll take eight hours to reach Tokyo. Here comes my ride—Dream Relier! I wonder what “Relier” means? It’s not in my mental dictionary… Check-in with a QR code! It’s a 3-seat layout. The seats are spacious,
but the aisle’s a bit narrow. Side-stepping my way through… This is my room for the night! The overhead shelf is compact. With curtains and partitions,
it feels almost like a private room! My secret base is complete… Plenty of legroom—
love being able to stretch out! Comes with amenities—
a small but nice bonus! MegRhythm hot eye mask included! They even have a foot version!
First time seeing that. Lotion and moisturizer—
ready for that dry air! Stuff like this is a lifesaver
for folks in their 40s. LOL A blanket too—thank you, bus company! I thought it was just a small lap blanket…
It’s huge! Haha Big enough to cover my whole body. 11:00 PM—leaving right on schedule! Farewell, Osaka!
Until we meet again. Eating stuff this late…
no wonder I’m gaining weight. Feels kinda naughty
eating in this little private space. Haha Fluffy bread, dense egg…
this is dangerous. Carbs followed by sugary coffee—
here we go… 40s male on a straight path to dad bod. The bus is full,
but it’s super quiet. Maybe everyone’s already asleep? Here’s what the inside of the bus looks like. There’s a restroom at the very back. Just knowing there’s a toilet
gives me peace of mind. 30 minutes after departure,
the lights go out. Good night. Might as well put on the MegRhythm
and get some sleep. It gently warms up and
helps me fall asleep. Now on the highway—
Tokyo, here I come! 90 minutes after departure,
first restroom break! A 20-minute break—
just right to reset a bit. Snapped a photo of the bus number
just in case I get lost! This service area has a full-on food court!
So hype! But no time to hang around… Free tea!
I always jump on stuff like this. Haha “Free” really is a magical word… Cheers to the tanuki’s golden… charms! 🍻 By the way, the bus fare is ¥8,800 (about $59.00 USD) on weekdays. It’s ¥10,000 (about $67.00 USD) on weekends—watch out for that bump! Second restroom break! In my 40s, bathroom break is first priority. LOL In Japan, highway buses always
stop every 2 to 3 hours. It’s a safety rule made
to protect the drivers. The sky’s starting to lighten… Sneaking back onto the bus
so I don’t wake anyone. Arrived at Shinjuku Bus Terminal! Japan’s busiest terminal—
1,625 buses come and go every day! Most passengers got off here in Shinjuku. Now heading for the final stop: Tokyo Station! Tokyo’s skyscrapers
still get me excited every time. We reached Tokyo Station
about 15 minutes late. The bus was surprisingly comfy—
I slept like a baby. Thank you, Dream Relier!
I’ll ride again for sure! Small-town habit:
taking pics in front of Tokyo Station. Haha Alright, let’s head to Akihabara! Tokyo trains every 5 minutes—
still blows my mind. City life! Back in my hometown?
Only one train an hour. LOL Just two stops from Tokyo Station.
Akihabara’s super easy to access! Here it is… the long-awaited Akihabara! Woooooo! This is Akihabara?!
I’m so hyped right now! Every sign and ad is super intense—
this is the real deal! Before exploring Akihabara,
let’s fill the tank first. No Fuji Soba in Kansai (Osaka area),
so I’ve always wanted to try it here! Ooh, looks delicious…
this is promising! Alright, let’s see what it tastes like! I ordered hot soba. It’s topped with beef, wakame,
green onions, and more. Delicious! Total win! I totally get why this place is
popular with tourists! Hot soba on a cold day—
that hits the soul. All done—so good! Now that I’m full,
let’s explore Akihabara! Let’s start with the famous spots. Right outside the station—
Radio Kaikan! Everything here costs more
than my bus fare this morning. LOL One Luffy card?
You could fly to Korea for that price! Even just browsing is so much fun! This place seriously sells everything…
amazing! Why is this so fun?!
I’m totally addicted. Two hours passed?!
I was completely hooked. Haha Looking at each item
just makes it impossible to stop! As much as I want to stay…
guess it’s time to move on. Alright, next stop… Lunch at Fuji Soba again! It was just too good—
I had to come back. LOL I mean, there’s no law
against going twice in one day, right? This time, I got the katsudon! It even came with miso soup. Time to dig in! Fluffy eggs and crispy pork cutlet…
unfairly delicious! The dashi flavor is on point—
this one’s a champion! My stomach is singing with joy! Next stop: retro game heaven. Super Potato! Oh hey there! Whoa…
this place is exciting! So much nostalgia—gave me chills! Resident Evil was legit scary
back in the day… The 5th floor is a retro arcade—
I’m pumped! For some reason,
everyone here is a Western tourist. LOL Yakuza games are great,
but now I’m craving the classics. By the way, Mario Karts
actually drive around Tokyo. LOL Akihabara all lit up at night—
absolutely gorgeous. Alright, let’s check out the arcade floor. I know Taiko Drum Master
and dance rhythm games. They’ve been around for years,
so I’m familiar with those. But these newer games are way too high-tech—
I don’t even know how to play them. LOL This one honestly looks
more like a washer-dryer! Haha This floor has a chill vibe.
Very relaxing. Yeah, retro games
just feel right for me. A mountain of Umaibo snacks! I feel like I can snag a bunch! Only got two… Ooh, this one looks fun! 200 yen per game—
let’s do this! Alright! I’ll protect Akihabara
from these dinosaurs! Leave it to me! So far, so good~♪ Akihabara will be safe…
on my watch! Oh no…
my life bar’s almost gone! LOL Sorry, Akihabara…
I couldn’t save you… If you come here,
please defeat the dinosaurs for me! Goodbye, everyone…
