Jamaica’s team of Jodean Williams, Tia Clayton, Tina Clayton and Jonielle Smith cruised to a season’s best 41.80 seconds to win their semi-final heat and qualify for the final of the women’s 4x100m at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
It was the fourth fastest time this year and second best in the semi-final round.
Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce are expected to be brought into the team for the final, at the expense of Williams and Smith.
The USA led with a world leading 41.60 seconds while Germany- 41.86 seconds and Great Britain- 41.88 seconds also ran well.
