Muscat: Based on the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, HH Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham al Said, will preside over the celebration of Oman’s National Day at the Expo National Day hall of Expo Osaka 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, Japan, on Saturday.
The celebration comes as the pavilion clocked one millionth visitor on Friday.
The ceremony will begin with the hoisting of the Sultanate of Oman’s flag in the main arena of the exhibition. The ceremony will include musical performances, traditional Omani arts and a sign language display embodying the values of national belonging.
The Royal Cavalry band performance is a patriotic and traditional musical performance that showcases Oman’s rich musical heritage. The performance combines traditional and modern elements to create a mesmerising experience.
The Sultanate of Oman Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka stands as a testament to the adaptability of the Omani people and their harmonious coexistence with nature, strategically aligned with the “Saving Lives” sub-theme. The pavilion offers a multisensory experience where visitors will witness the Oman essence in the intricate details of the Water Corridor, see it in the Living Canvas walls and experience it in the Water, Land and People show; and smell it in the lingering fragrances of the Scented Land.
HH Sayyid Bilarab is being accompanied by Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (Deputy Chairman of the Main Committee for Oman’s participation in the exposition), among other officials.
Featuring more than 30 events throughout the Expo that will promote Oman’s investment opportunities, tourism and cultural identity, the pavilion will be a space dedicated to cultural exchange, encouraging collaboration and innovative ideas for a more promising future.
The pavilion design is the result of a competition conducted by the Office of Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design, reflecting Oman’s ongoing commitment to incorporating the traditional architecture of the Sultanate of Oman in its global engagements.
The design team, comprising Ammar bin Abdulhamid al Kiyumi, Bayan bint Musallam al Ramadhaniyah and Nayyara bint Khamis al Hinaiyah, were announced winners on February 28 and received a prize of RO 10,000 for the innovative concept.
Under the inspiring theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, the Expo calls on humanity to imagine bold solutions for tomorrow’s challenges, highlighting technologies, creativity and visions that are already shaping our shared future.
Expo 2025 opened in the Japanese city on April 13 and runs until October 13. It provides a global platform for more than 150 countries to show off their heritage, achievements and plans for the future.
Expo 2025 Osaka recorded five million visits in its first six weeks, putting it on track to hit its 28 million target.
