【October in Japan 2025①】 Highlights and Event Schedule

Hi guys! It’s Rubel here! Starting today, I’m doing a 3–day special series all about Japan in October 2025! Here’s the plan : Day 1 -The highlights of Japan in October and nationwide events you don’t want to miss. Day 2 – October food in Japan.
Yep, I’ll show you exactly what you should eat this season. Day 3 – The October weather and what kind of clothes you’ll need. And this video is Day 1—we’re diving into the must–see spots and events happening in Japan this October 2025. So get ready, because October in Japan is seriously amazing! Highlights and Events in Japan – October 2025 October in Japan is honestly one of the most beautiful times of the year—
right up there with April, when cherry blossoms bloom. The weather is fantastic, so you’ll see both international travelers and Japanese tourists everywhere. But here’s a little tip : Saturdays and Sundays get super crowded at popular spots. If you can, try planning your visits on weekdays instead. Also, heads up—October 13th is a national holiday in Japan, even though it’s a Monday. That means October 11th through 13th will be crazy busy nationwide. Just something to keep in mind when you’re planning! And of course, October means Halloween! But Halloween in Japan might look a little different from what you’re used to. On October 31st, tons of young people dress up in amazing costumes—
sometimes as characters from anime, sometimes in classic Halloween outfits—and they head out into the streets. The craftsmanship is incredible, like full–on cosplay level ! The biggest crowds gather around Shibuya Station in Tokyo, Sakae Station in Nagoya, and Shinsaibashi Station in Osaka. It’s a wild street party vibe, so if you want to experience the Japanese take on Halloween, those are the hotspots. But just a quick note : this kind of Halloween celebration isn’t really for little kids. It’s more of a hangout for teens and people in their 20s. For families with kids, don’t worry—there are plenty of Halloween events at shopping centers and theme parks that are super kid–friendly. October 2025 in Japan – Festival & Event Guide Now, let’s check out some of the festivals and events happening around Japan this October. If you’re planning a trip, definitely see if any of these line up with your visit! I’ve also put all the detailed info in the description box below! Tokyo Area Events Hokkaido & Kyushu Gourmet Festival Yoyogi, Tokyo October 10~13 Hokkaido and Kyushu are famous for having some of Japan’s best food. Tokyo Night Market – Earth Garden Autumn Yoyogi October 22~26 This is a night event all about enjoying food, drinks, and music. There’ll be live performances by Japanese musicians, plus stalls selling unique handmade goods from up–and–coming artists. Edo–style Japan. And the best part?
Kawagoe is only about an hour from Tokyo Station! Cosmos Festival Fukiage Fukiage, Saitama October 25~26 Picture this : a massive field, about 86,000 square meters,

but it has a much more countryside vibe compared to the city. It’s the perfect spot to slow down and enjoy Japan’s autumn beauty. Urayasu Fireworks Festival Chiba, Urayasu Oct 18 So, fireworks in Japan are usually a summer thing, right? August is the peak season. But guess what? Urayasu City has a special autumn fireworks festival! The cool, comfortable fall weather makes it such a nice way to enjoy fireworks without the summer heat. And—fun fact—Urayasu is the city where Japan’s one and only Disneyland is located! Just a heads up, Disneyland gets super packed on this day, so plan carefully if you’re visiting. World Festa Yokohama 2025 Yokohama, Kanagawa Oct 11~12 Yokohama is hosting a global celebration of food and culture! so magical! Kyoto Animation Exhibition Miyako Messe Oct 25~26 Yes, that Kyoto Animation—famous worldwide for their anime! This event features production materials, artwork, and special exhibits. If you’re a fan, it’s a dream come true. And just so you know, this is held in a special event venue, not the Kyoto Animation shop. Don’t mix them up! Osaka Events in October Osaka Expo 2025 Yumeshima until Oct 13 It started back in April, and now it’s wrapping up in October. So if you haven’t seen the World Expo yet, this is your last chance! Osake Festival Osaka Bentencho Oct 25~26 Yes, you heard that right—“Osake” as in Japanese sake! At Osaka Bay Tower, you can taste tons of varieties of sake, and you don’t even have to be a hotel guest to join in. 37th Naniwa Yodogawa Fireworks Festival Yodogawa Oct 18 Over 10,000 fireworks light up the autumn night sky! This is one of Osaka’s biggest seasonal highlights, and it’s absolutely breathtaking. Events in Other Regions SENDAI LUMINACT Sendai, Miyagi Oct 25~26 Held in Aoba Park, this is a nighttime festival with live music, fireworks, and even hot air balloon rides! 1. I'm flying to Japan in October. This guide is really helpful! I bought a seated ticket to the Jidai Matsuri in Kyoto after watching the video.
I also tried to buy a ticket to the Kyoto Animation Studio exhibition. Their website is translated into English, BUT when I try to pay, everything is in Japanese and asks for a Japanese phone number, address, and name in katakana… so unfortunately, payment is not available for foreigners((

  2. I wish I would've googled about October festivals before booking my trip… I leave just a few days before the festival at Mt. Kurama.

  3. I will be in Kyoto during Sport's Day, I just hope is not too crowded! Good to know about Naniwa Yodogawa Fireworks Festival, I will be there in Osaka and I didn't know about it.
