Osaka, Japan – The National Day celebration of Oman’s pavilion at Expo 2025 – Osaka Kansai attracted thousands of visitors on Saturday, as Omani bands and folk artists presented live musical performances reflecting the diversity of the sultanate’s artistic heritage.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of H H Sayyid Belarab bin Haitham al Said.
A postal stamp commemorating Oman’s participation in the expo was also launched.
H E Sayyid Said bin Sultan al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Culture in Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and Commissioner-General of Oman Pavilion at the expo, said, “Oman’s celebration at the World Expo introduces the peoples of the world to the sultanate’s culture and rich history of tolerance and cultural interaction. Oman Pavilion also offers an interactive space rich with information and experiences, allowing visitors to explore, interact and enjoy it as an experience that enhances the connection to the land, water and people, and coexistence in harmony with nature.”
In his speech, Yoshitaka Ito, Minister of State for Expo 2025, emphasised the strength of relations between Oman and Japan, and reviewed the shared history and areas of bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries. He pointed out that the displays of Oman’s pavilion, under the title ‘People, Land and Water’, highlight a strong community.
H H Sayyid Bilarab was accompanied by H E Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, and H E Sheikh Khalifa Ali al Harthy, Undersecretary for Political Affairs in Foreign Ministry, among other senior officials.
On Thursday, Oman’s pavilion celebrated welcoming its one-millionth visitor. ‘One million experiences carried the voice of place and the spirit of humanity… and one million links now stretch from here to the world,’ stated the organisers of the pavilion.
The pavilion highlights Oman’s cultural legacy and its aspirations for the future in line with the goals of Vision 2040. It focuses on three core themes – people, land and water – reflecting the sultanate’s connection to its environment, its identity and its social values.
The pavilion features interactive exhibits that explore Oman’s geography, cultural history and tourism sector. It also serves as a platform to promote trade and investment, with Oman seeking to strengthen diplomatic and economic relations during the six-month global event.
