TOKYO, Japan — Shericka Jackson was denied a third straight World Athletics Championships gold medal as she finished third in 22.18 seconds (-0.1m/s) in the final at the National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan on Friday.
It was the second bronze of the day for Jamaica after Bryan Levell also took third in the men’s 200m final minutes earlier and took Jamaica’s tally to eight overall.
It was Jackson’s seventh individual medal at the World Athletics Championships as she also won two silver medals in the 100m as well as two bronze in the 400m.
Melissa Jefferson-Wooden became the first American woman to win the sprint double at the World Championships as she won the gold with a world-leading 21.68 seconds while Great Britain’s Amy Hunt took the silver medal with 22.14 seconds.
