Nagasaki or Hiroshima: What I Learned
Visiting both Hiroshima and Nagasaki offers a deeper, more complete understanding of the human cost of nuclear war. Each city tells a different part of the story. Together, they leave a lasting impression of loss, resilience, and the importance of peace. In Hiroshima, it’s the raw remains of the Abomb Dome and the haunting children’s peace monument that hit hard for me. In Nagasaki, the peace statue watches over the fountain of peace built where people once begged for water to replicate angel wings of the fallen. Hiroshima’s museum is shockingly graphic with photos, personal artifacts, and stories on display. Nagasaki feels more reflective, telling stories of mostly women, children, and the elderly who once lived in a quiet Catholic neighborhood. Visiting both deepens your understanding of the past and the power of peace. [Music] Check out my other videos of my Japan adventures. [Music]
