Alyssa Solomon is finally fulfilling her overseas dream after signing with powerhouse Osaka Marvelous in the top-tier SV.League in Japan.
The Japanese club announced Solomon’s arrival on Tuesday just months after the high-flying opposite spiker capped off her collegiate career with National University in the UAAP.
The move allows the 23-year-old Solomon to finally bring her talent abroad after she opted to withdraw her application in the Korean Volleyball (KOVO) Draft last March due to her commitment with the Lady Bulldogs.
“I am very honored and excited to join Osaka Marvelous, which is the champions 2024-25 in Japan and one of the best clubs all over the world as well,” Solomon said in a statement.
“I would like to improve myself more and contribute to the club as much as possible.”
Osaka is no stranger to a Filipino import as it previously featured Jaja Santiago, now known as Sachi Minowa in Japan, before she parted ways with the club and moved to the Denso Airybees.
It’s now Solomon’s turn to reinforce Osaka as the club looks to defend the title in the upcoming season.
Solomon played a huge role in National University’s rise in UAAP women’s volleyball, steering the squad to three titles in Seasons 84, 85, and 87, linking up with the likes of Bella Belen, Sheena Toring, and Vange Alinsug.
“I am looking forward to seeing fans, staff and teammates soon. Please come to see me at the arena.”
