Celebrity Millennium 12-Night Best of Japan & Nebuta Festival Cruise Summer 2025 – Part Two
[Music] Welcome to the next video in our Celebrity Millennium Japanese cruise series. [Music] Today we make the relatively short journey from Yokohama to Shimizu, which is the nearest port for Mount Fuji. [Music] Morning. [Music] Let’s just see this. We don’t get another cruise vlog. So state my uh [Music] don’t put me on. We hit the wall yesterday as we as I was saying last night. Uh we were asleep by 10 I would say. Uh we’re currently still sailing towards Shimu Shimzi Shimezu Shimizu which is for Mount Fuji. So, we have opted for a continental breakfast to be delivered to the room. Uh, about time my hair might be a little bit less disgraceful, a little bit less like the Max Headroom or Ace Ventura or my professor. Take your pick. Nothing planned for today, which we never have anything planned. Actually, I lie. We have got things planned for this cruise. got nothing formal like nothing arranged to us or whatever. But Lisa has been tour guy Barbie and she has got things planned for most days apart from today. Today’s a day where we decide we’re just going to head off into the local town. Still the climatizer has a little bit but really looking forward to get back into proper Japan. Uh I said it yesterday a few times. I don’t know if I capture it properly or not, but it’s really strange going from the serenity of Yokohama. I mean, on a night when people out and about, it was still very, very peaceful, very quiet to a ship, which is quite loud. It’s not that full. I think maximum capacity is like 2,000, but never feels full. Never waited for a drink. Uh, never wait for a seat. Uh, and everyone everyone’s everyone’s very very nice. Uh, it’s just like, wow. You miss the the quietness and the calmness of of Japanese people and Japanese culture. Uh, it’s a short day today. We don’t we dock apparently in about half 7, although they can get off at 7:00 7:30. We need back on by 3:30 in the afternoon. So, it’s a fairly short stop today. Hence why we’re not going too far. Uh, I think most people will be heading up to Mount Fuji itself or towards Mount Fuji. We saw it flying in. We’ve seen it yesterday on the from the ship and it’s a mountain. Unfortunately, we’ve come here the time of year. There’s no snow on top, so you don’t see the iconic images, but that’s it. It’s I’m sure it’ll still be stunning and we are still very very blessed and very very fortunate to be here to see it. So we will report back once we have breakfast and I’ve done some of this bloody hair of mine. Bye for now. Yeah. So Lisa very casually just said, “Oh my, there’s Mount Fuji again.” Should [Music] show up on the camera, but it’s there. It’s there. The room service breakfast has arrived with proper coffee unlike pe etc etc. So yes we will have this what isn’t here some fruit le that we won’t eat quick well very quick change later now looks less horrific. Uh we’re going to go and brave the heat of Shimuzu. Shimuzu. Shimuzu. Uh Fuji is currently caught by clouds. What we saw this morning? We saw this morning. So we’re going to go grab a quick coffee, I think, in Cafe Elbasio or what or whatever it is named and head off uh on the complimentary shutty bus. Shuttle bus. Shuty bus. Shutty bus, shuttle bus to Shimuzu train station and have a gander. There’ll be a copyright strike in a second, but never mind. [Music] Well, so YouTube, no doubt. I’m hoping to get a glimpse of C Mount Mount Fuji once I get past the bow of the ship. She’s anchor. Big ship. Love the anchor. We watch below deck. Don’t you know? Yeah. Although I think anybody would know that. Yes. The free shuttle bus has two drop off points so you can get off at either the train station or a shopping area. So, a bit of live camera action of terrible. Peter is about to understand this. Do we know what we’re doing? So, we’re going there all the way to there. And actually, Julie and Dave, this one could be for you as well when you come to your first port, which is Shimizu. Get dropped off on your shuttle bus. Get the first bus. Sorry. Get dropped off at the first station. time to it’s called Shin Shimizu and you want to go to Shin Shina or something like that anyway and that’s where you go to the um shrine and the park and what have you and these look very complicated but I’m sure they are not so what was your first experience and thought of your first Japanese train purchase tickets etc the ticket machines. A scary fast take your car off you. Yeah, it did. I like sucked it in. It did nothing with it and spat back out. Yeah. Uh but the gentleman at the counter was incredibly helpful. Yeah, it was sorted out for us for a while. Yeah. Yeah. It was all good. A train full of high school kids and then loads of people from the cruise looking really confused. It’s really good. We’re not the only confused people. We said we wanted to be out of our comfort zone. We certainly are, but it’s also all right until very soon. The train to Shizuka was smooth and quite quick, and it was great to see some of the local areas on our way. This was our first real taste of proper Japan, and it was fantastic. Yeah, Shuoka, a model city apparently. We’re heading towards a castle and I believe castle and a shrine. I’ve got my UV umbrella, which we both have. Yeah, I’m not using mine just yet. These are actually godland. Yeah, you’re new. Took the train from Shimuzu. Shimu, Shimuzu, Shimuzu to Shizoka. Again, apologies for butchering the uh local names. It’s completely unintentional, just down to my pure ignorance. Uh took about 20 minutes or so on the train. 23 actually to be 23 minutes. Very comfortable. So all the um local school children going to school on a Saturday. Not sure why. Maybe it’s like a summer thing. Baseball ground cuz baseball is obviously very popular in Japan. Here we go. It’s an old castle gate apparently. Oh my goodness. Look at this. This is our first glimpse of Oh wow. a Japanese castle. next to looks like it’s next to a Starbucks. There’s a juke of position for you. a relatively modern building next to this which may or may not be modern but certainly it’s built in the style of an old Japanese castle. I’ll wander inside. It’s made even more beautiful by the mountains in the background. Can’t see Mount Fuji from here, but still some beautiful mountains. The Shijua Castle Tower has been rebuilt entirely to match its original construction. It’s a very impressive building. So, one of the things you see on videos that is absolutely true is you can’t find a bin anywhere. No, you can’t. They are very rare. So, we’ve hunted and hunted hunt man to find one here. So, it’s exciting. We found a bin to get some rubbish. Another thing that is true is that there are vending machines absolutely everywhere. Oh, and let me point this out. So, can you see all that is blue? Yes. There was a red one. It’s a hot drink. So, the blue means cold drink. So, some of them have red. So, the red is for hot drink. There you go. That’s my tip of the day. This is not Picari sweat, but it might as well be. Again, you got you stricken this stuff when you’re here as well, just to keep yourself hydrated. Yeah, apologies for the state of me, especially sweaty Betty. But it’s quite warm. We may have mentioned it. Well, this is beautiful. [Music] What are you looking at? I’m trying to find these animals. They’re making the noise on their ear. The crickets rubbing their legs together. Yeah, I can’t see Asian crickets, so pretty. Stunning. Again, signs that we are middle-aged. We get I think gardens are interesting and stunning. To be fair, this one I think any fair pet, Japanese gardens are a legendary thing. They’re a thing. They’re a thing. Oh, going at the jungle now. Thank goodness me. We’re only going to one Japanese garden. Yeah, literally that’s it. Yeah, one Japanese garden probably one castle, one shroud. Hoping the colors come through cuz this is stunning. That was beautiful. It is cliched phrase of the moment. It is like an oasis in the middle of the city. Absolutely stunning. [Music] [Music] Exciting content in it. Wooden steps. That’s exciting. [Music] Japanese wooden steps. Leaving the serene gardens behind, we headed back to the city itself. One thing that struck us was the way all the locals took every opportunity to stand in the shade. It really was that hot. As we didn’t have long in port, we needed to head back to the ship. On the way back to the station, we stumbled across our first manga store and some of the famous gatchapon machines. Even in a relatively small space, there was a gacha pon machine for every taste and trend. Look at playful this one. He just wants to laugh this other one. Oh my god. I love this white one. Wonder. This is Shimizu. Another Shimizu station. Look like a little shopping street which adittly does look a bit like tat but might not be. It’s tourist. Well, that’s a s that joins how I know how I know it’s touristy area cuz that was a samurai ninja show. which I think is what most people would assume is they Yeah, to be fair, it’s what tourists might want to see if they didn’t know anything about Japan. We don’t cats. We saw cats again. We did. We like cats. Point to look at though, not to keep. Well, that was a very quick stop. We’ve walked in the street and turned back around again. We’ve gone back. It’s always a pleasure to get back to your ship, especially after a lot of walking. Here we are back at our ship now. Joined by Diamond Princess. Half past 1. Heading back on board. We’re a bit on the hungry side. Just got back on board. Very nice to get back in our cabin state room. Our balcony is currently in the shade. I’m going to get some food. Going to risk the buffet again. See if there’s anything better for vegetarians at lunchtime. Vapo last night. It’s my only criticism I can have of the ship. The ship is fantastic. The crew amazing. Uh but yeah, the vegetarian selection of the evening buffet was poor to say the least, but expecting better things now. Onwards and upwards full of positivity. It’s fair to say though, we didn’t get the best side of the ship for views. Though Shimizu is a industrial port, I’m glad we saw Mount Fuji this morning because you can’t see it now. It is currently completely obscured by clouds. So had we booked a tour to Mount Fuji, he would have booked a tour to a cloud. Not the best. [Music] By Darren Princess. The captains are getting all horny. My horn’s bigger than your horn. Bye-bye, D Princess. Bye-bye, Shimuzu. That’s it. Say bye-bye Mount Fuji, but we can’t see it. Been hidden since first this morning. One thing I’ve noticed is they do love a theme park uh in random locations in Japan. That there behind that cloud is Muji. We just can’t see him. Say hi. Got his spritz. He’s all right. Lisa was still showing an unhealthy obsession with bathrooms. This time, these are some of the public facilities on board the Millennium. We took the opportunity to relax and enjoy the late afternoon sun from our balcony. [Music] One of the alleged perks of being concurge class is you get a lovely, and I mean not lovely, bottle of bubbly in the room. And that is the contents of the mini bar that I took out cuz I ain’t paying for it. The vodka. Tiny vodkas. Tito’s vodka. Should we play a game? Guess the price of the mini bar. $15. A half bottle of Chardonnire, $30. Likewise, half bottle of cabinet somo, $30. A small can of Heineken, $10. The Cokes, $4.75. Evian, which wasn’t in there, $5.50. potato chips which were in there. $525 not including a 20% gratuitity. Not worth it. But we’ll see what the procco is like or champagne in posh. It’s got a plastic top. Going to be some pretty impressive biz. This Oh, so impressive. That’s that that was the sound. That probably made me laugh. That was the sound of an expensive bottle of fizz. Oh, it’s fizzy at least. Woohoo. It’s fizzy at least. Funny. Looks can be deceiving cuz it was actually pretty decent. And tomorrow we are in Osaka. Still love Japan. You got to do this cruise. If you’re blessed enough to do it, do it. It’s much easier than the videos tell you. It’s no bother. Everything’s contactless. Everyone’s incredibly polite. More people understand English than you could possibly understand or believe. And when they don’t understand English, they very quickly use Google Translate. And they are just so they everybody we have met has been so keen to help. If you can come to Japan had no rain yet. Just jinxed I’ just I’ve just jinxed it. You’ve literally ted no rain as yet in this trip. We have had it. Oh, this is our first sunset. I believe we’ve seen at sea. At sea. That’s it. At sea. This is what gorgeous. Sorry, but it is right. You may not hear us. This is the celebrity chic evening. It’s their version of a former night. I’ve got a dress on and I’ve got heels. In the winter, I will wear tuxedo. No bother. Or for like a we’re doing Qard in October. I will wear tuxedo on that in the middle of Japan where it’s like 40°. I ain’t wearing a tuxedo. So anyhow, we have an evening. We will wait for our meal in the main dining room. We’ll be brought back. Yes. So, we are in the main dining room. We are in an amazing seat. We can’t see anything cuz it’s pitch black outside, but yes, if you’ve been on the Mela Voyager, it’s the same ship. vegetarian menu you can ask for cuz some people might and we didn’t know this. Okay, so if you’re vegetarian, if you ask for the vegetarian menu, they give you a different menu. So you got the main menu which has got be honest looks amazing. Duck, there was duck, there was steak. Actually nice but now I know there’s a different I thought there must be another. Yes, even better. On Royal Caribbean, you can ask for the crew menu, which usually has about haren vegetarian curries. On Celebrity, ask a vegetarian menu. Even better. Yes, it’s a beautiful main dining room. By the way, [Music] after dinner, we headed towards the martini bar. This is usually one of the busiest spots on board the ship, but we took the salon disco to go to bed. Next time we head to Osaka and Kyoto for an overnight stop. It was one of the highlights of our trip and we hope you can join us next time. [Music] Thanks for watching and if you like this video, please like and subscribe. It’s free and we would really appreciate it.

We really enjoyed watching and can't wait to see Osaka, so thank you.
2 questions…
Will part 3 be next Sunday?
Did you notice if the drink packages when boarding are on par with the online prices, or are they cheaper or even more expensive? lol
Thanks again for sharing ❤
Thank you for sharing your port visit. It looked like a nice self guided way to see the area. We’ll be in Japan next year but are only doing land travel. Looking forward to seeing all the vending machines but we know nothing of the Manga or characters. Looking forward to seeing your future videos.
