Mark English has booked his place in the semi-finals of the 800 metres at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
The Letterkenny native finished third in his heat this afternoon, crossing the line in a time of 1:45.12, behind Kenyan’s Olympic champion Emmanuel Waynyonyi and Italian Francesco Pernici.
The 32-year-old has had a strong campaign to date, breaking the Irish 800 metre outdoor record on three separate occasions this year.
The Finn Valley AC athlete will take to the track for his 800 metre semi-final this Thursday afternoon.
